I hate those little bastards. We should use them to torture terrorists.

The bleach baths seem to help, but if you can not scratch them it will heal up faster.

There are no bugs on you now, when they start to itch that is caused by the secretion they inject into you. The secretion will soften the skin so they can drink it. After they eat the fall off and then a little while later your skin will react to the bite.

Cortizone cream will help with the itch. If it is bad enough go to the doctor and get a steroid shot.

I have a place here in Alabama that I swear has trillions of those little bastards. I take a shower in the morning and after my skin dries I spray 10% deet all over my lower body, then get dressed and spray again on the outside of my clothes. As long as I do that I dont have a problem. Walking in tall grass will get you eaten alive.

I can barely read your post. But I do appreciate it

From my knees down, I'm all scabs. I scratched them bastards with the fury of 1000 suns. And I have to say, the pain is MUCH easier to deal with than the itch.

I left em alone from my thighs on up. The thought of dick and arse crack scabs was enough to keep my paws off em. Even though the itch is incredibly....itchy.......they seem to be healing MUCH quicker.

Next time I venture into one of these terrorist hotbeds and get bit to hell, I think I'm gonna go the no itch route.

Thanks for y'all's help.

Here's how you stop them immediately. look into the affected pore, you will be able to see the little red bastard. Just pluck him out with your knife or a pin and rub some alcohol or neosporin on it. End of misery.

I worked on a line crew for Florida Power & Light for 30 years. I was no stranger to a Red bug.

I don't think the bug is actually in there. Pretty sure it's just a bite. Either way, I'm pretty sure just cutting the whole thing off with a razor blade would be better than the itch.

a cup of bleach in bath water should kill them.

Did something similar to this when I was a kid. We would run some Luke warm water in the lavatory and put a couple of caps of bleach in that water. Used a wash cloth to dip in the water and a wipe the areas that had the chiggers. Killed them every time.

Oh, the bug is there alright. If it isn't there you ain't itching. They call them red bugs but they are actually more florescent orange and not that difficult to see.

To those of you that are in agony due to red bugs, take my advice and look in the pore, that's where they do there feeding. Just pluck it out and sanitize the area.

in laymen's terms, he says that if they don't stop itching, you have to get an injection in each bite.

Shave have your pubes and light the other half on fire. When they run away from the fire stab them with a ice pic.
I feel your pain

Get in a bath of hot water with a couple cups of bleach. Soak for an hour or so.

I only got into them once when i was a boy. My grandma put some macuricome (sp?), which is red so we called it monkey blood, on the bites. Years later grandpa told me the bites on my junk had it swole up like a mule. Been looking for them chiggers ever since.

The macuricome worked. BItes/itching went away later that day.

Grandma always put us in a bleach bath, then put bacon grease on them. The bleach killed some, but the bacon grease would suffocate any still alive.

Plus you smelled like bacon. Not a bad thing....

OK,(you two downvoters) no sweat off me. I don't suffer from redbug bites no more than the first five or ten minutes I feel them working on me.

May your fevered bodies twist, scratch and turn in agony from the little red bastards as they feast on a couple of dumb asses.

Chiggers have civil rights these days. Can't call them that word anymore. Now ,any chigger can still call his homies a bunch of chiggers but no one else.
