Diamond grain free is both cheap and a good food. And because it has less fillers and more calories per cup they eat less.

A 40lb bag from tractor supply runs 27-37 depending on flavor and activity level.

I feed diamond naturals grain free as well. Rated better than science diet for less. My dog loves it.

Check to make sure there are no teeth loose or hurting as well as an gums inflamed in her mouth.

If no

Put a couple of spoonful of bacon drippings or warm butter on top of dry feed

It's also very possible that she's finally settled into not being afraid of not being fed. Sometimes when dogs go to a new home they feel the instinct to eat as often and as much as they can because they aren't yet secure with their food supply. After 2 months she knows that her bowl will be filled everyday and she's only eating on an as needed basis which is a good thing.

Get your lab checked out by the vet. My lab has chronic sore throat that's allergy related. When it flares up, his throat hurts and he won't eat. After a round of antibiotics and anti inflammatories his appetite comes back.

You know, I never even thought of that.

Never tried her on bacon. What I do is, get a 24 lb bag of Pedigree adult complete nutrition, along with a can of chopped beef or chopped chicken canned food. Pour her bowl with some dry and then drizzle some of the wet food on top then mix it all together and she'll lick that bowl dry .

But hell if bacon works then I'll def try that.

For they guy who says get her checked by a vet, she actually was scheduled to go on Friday but got caught up and worked a little OT. I'll be sure to bring her in this Wednesday though, off day.

The way i was told was pedigree is like feeding your dog corn flakes...there was no nutritional value to it.... there are some foods like blue buffalo that are made the same but not as expensive. she will eat when she is hungry just like everyone else has said.

I know one thing, don't go with the purina. We were giving it to our pup and she started eating her terds. Called the vet and she said change foods. Basically said it's missing something he needs and thats why he's eating them. Changed and he quit within two days. Hasn't done it since.

This is kinda like the old Jerry Clower joke. Guy goes to a friends house and his dog is eating turnip greens. The guy says there is no way he could get his dog to eat turnip greens and the friend replied that his dog wouldn't eat them for a week.

That being said, my dogs eat the costco brand grain free dog food. It's a 40lbs bag for about $32. I think those numbers are correct at least.

My black lab likes warm water in his to kind of make it mushy. My yellow lab will eat it anyway I put it infront of him.

HaHa!! I'd forgotten about that Jerry Clower story. He had some very funny ones! On my first praire dog hunting trip northwest of Amarillo, TX my cousin brought along a Jerry Clower casette tape, "Great Dogs I Have Known." It was hilarious. Don't know how many times we listened to the tape on that long drive. I need to look it up someday on the 'net.

Diamond is a great food. No fillers or soy. My female wasn't on it for 1 month and her coat looks like crap. With it her coat is shinny and healthy looking. Plus, the pellets are small which they love. Try going with a smaller pellet might be hard to chew at 4 months. Or just put a little warm water

Get your dog off pedigree. There are so many better options out there. You want a food with at least no corn, soy, or animal by products. Check around some local specialty pet markets around your area. I am working part time between my other job at a local store in BR that we just opened. Sell a food called wholesomes that a lot of people with labs and other sporting dogs buy. A 40lb bag is on sale for $30 right now. A lot better quality than grocery store food.

Dribbling some honey on the food works well and is easier than bacon grease.

Only Lamb and Oatmeal for our Lab. He has an odd stomach and this stuff stays down and keeps him regular.
