Mentioned on another board that husband and wife were witnesses to a corruption case. Don't know if true or not.
Will see what investigation shows.

The people in Madisonville, Covington, and Mandeville should petition to split STP into two parishes, and create a West & East STP.

Think it was Nola.com Facebook post. Nothing else was said.

You didn't state any fact, fricking idiot.
You're right. St Tammany murder rate is unchanged.
Unless you actually count the murders.

As soon as that story came out, I knew it was foul play. That's a giant coincidence.

Interesting that a "YouCaring" donation fund was established a few days ago (before the news of the wife being shot) and it has yet to garner a single supporter.
He may not get a lot of support after all he has done to get to be the chief. You would think the brotherhood of firefighters would be donating a lot but the brotherhood doesn't support him that much (except for a few people who are on his ego trip train).
TL:DR warning, lol. This is just for those who are interested in Stephen's background and why he is disliked by so many.
If you dig, you can find the court cases where firefighters sued him because he had them wrongfully fired for starting and being in a union or other BS stuff.
Now this is just version my summary of it and "maybe" this is what happened ( to protect myself and others, lets just say "maybe" this is alleged to be what happened).
I believe it went to state court and and was also was going to federal court and he lost. All of his super expensive lawyers were paid for by the fire dept. Pretty much a colossal waste of money, hundreds of thousands of dollars I think.
Of course, he didn't fire them officially for being in the union since that would be illegal, I think. He would get them suspended (with pay) for a few days for a REALLY minor offense that was really only worthy of a reprimand, if that.
Then he would stake out the houses of those suspended people and would fire them if they dared leave their house while on suspension. (they were suspended and told to stay basically on house arrest during the hours they would have normally worked). I think one guy had to leave his house for an family emergency and was fired.
I believe this is the kind of tactic he used to wrongfully fire the former chief in order to get his job as the chief. The firing was illegal and the former chief was reinstated to the dept but Stephen made sure he was demoted and the former chief left in disgust and found a better position elsewhere(or so I have gathered).
Of course Stephen lost the case/cases and had to settle (the dept paid for that so more money that the FD needed to operate was spent due to his idiocy). As part of the settlement he insisted that the winning plaintiffs be sworn to secrecy and not be allowed to speak of him ever.
I believe the wronged fire fighters were also ordered to be reinstated but may not have gone back to the dept because they were disgusted and people dont want to work under a chief that they have no faith in and who they know is blatantly targeting them
So the wronged firefighters can't talk about him because of the settlement. But I can talk about him and tell what an asshat I think he is. I was not one of the plaintiffs nor have I learned any of this from the plaintiffs after they were told not to talk about it. When you're an arse like him, people talk (except for those he had to settle with in court after he lost).

So he lost or there was a settlement?
Huge difference.
Also, you sound bitter.

I believe he lost the state case and then in order to avoid the federal case which he knew he would lose, he settled. The plaintiff were tired of fighting and had moved on in life. They were proven right by the state courts so that was enough for them.
What on earth do I have to be bitter about? It didn't affect me or my family at all. My family is with a totally different district. Most firefighters don't like when they see another firefighter being abused like that.
I'm just putting the info out there for those who are interested.

Unfortunately, 9 times (or 9.9 times) out of 10, it's the husband's doing in cases like this. Random people don't try to burn a body.

Someone asked for a link and was told it may have been mentioned on a FB page. Perhaps this is t.he corruption case they were discussing. here is a link to the minutes of a meeting that discussed an investigation. LINK
An investigation was ongoing in late 2015 and I have not heard of it being resolved (unless once again it was a "sworn to secrecy matter)
The dept is drowning in debt. It has to spend so much on lawyers and BS.
Nanette Krentel (the murdered woman) is quoted as asking if the DA's office would provide legal services to the fire dept (aka her husband and the others being investigated).
After all the legal costs incurred involving her husband and his involvement in the FD is likely astronomical and is ridiculous seeing as the fire dept had to get an 800,000 line of credit to keep it afloat.
The talk of the investigation starts on page 4 (Item #9)
ETA: Fixed link (hopefully, lol)

Has this idiot never watched forensic files? They never get away with the murder someone then start a fire to cover it up.

Maybe she was born with that bullet inside her skull? You don't know.
