re: Hillary on selective service registration for women - drunkenpunkin
I don't think women should be in combat at all. Or be cops or firefighters or anything else that requires different standards in order for them to gain entrance. And I'm a woman. ...

re: Forth kid--couples baby shower. - drunkenpunkin
I just looked it up. It's okay if there has been a big gap since the last baby (5+ years) and also okay if it is for close friends and family with small gifts (a "sprinkle") but guests who attended previous showers should not be invited to subsequent showers. ETA: Also okay if they had 3 boys...

re: Forth kid--couples baby shower. - drunkenpunkin
How long has it been since they had a baby? You can have a baby shower if your other kids are older. There is some specific year gap in Emily Post, but I'm not sure what it is. ...

re: Someone explain the appeal of Mardi Gras to me - drunkenpunkin
Reading isn't your strong suit, is it? I gave an opinion that is clearly about me and how I feel and what I prefer, and you take it as some sort of personal affront. It in no way affects me if you enjoy the opposite of what I enjoy. But, I'm not sure you should be labeling anyone high and mighty...

re: Girls who Hunt, Fish, and/or play Golf - drunkenpunkin
I honestly know 1 woman that genuinely loves to hunt. She is my 1st cousin. Been hunting her whole life. She kills at least 3 deer a season.
That's why I said 90%. There are a few out there who genuinely like it. But not many. ...

re: Girls who Hunt, Fish, and/or play Golf - drunkenpunkin
Fishing I think is different. I should have specified hunting. And hunting as a kid is different. I mean grown women going hunting with their SOs and who swear they love it. What they love is attention and security. Not shooting guns and killing animals. ...

Like 90% of women like this do it to impress men or to hold on to men. If not they'd be organizing all girls hunting trips. ...

re: Someone explain the appeal of Mardi Gras to me - drunkenpunkin
I enjoyed the parade last night with my kids. But, I'm with you. If I were a single adult in my 30s with no kids, I wouldn't bother. Unless maybe if I weren't from here, and it was something I had never experienced. Or if I were riding. That seems like a good time. But, just going to the parad...

re: Olympia was Lame as Shit - drunkenpunkin
We enjoyed it. But, we don't regularly go to parades. The kids had a good time. People around us were nice and respectful. As I don't regularly parade, what was it missing that you were expecting?...

re: Someone explain the appeal of Mardi Gras to me - drunkenpunkin
I don't get why people lose their minds over dry bread with gloppy filling, gritty sugar topping, and a choking hazard hidden somewhere inside. We have great food down here. King cake, IMO, is not our finest. But, as I said, to each his own. ...

re: Mandeville, Madisonville, Covington, Public or Private School - drunkenpunkin
I just ignore people who say bad things about it. I don't know anyone who actually had a kid go to Pitcher that has anything bad to say about it. It's a great school. My SO is from here. Did public schools (not sure which ones) until SPS. He had the same impression until we put the kids there...

re: Mandeville, Madisonville, Covington, Public or Private School - drunkenpunkin
It's what's best for each individual child. My oldest is at Covington High because they have what he needs. We are in the process of looking for a house, but no matter where we move, he will stay there. My middle one is at Pitcher, which is much maligned. Unfairly. The only thing I can see abou...

re: Kids Wearing Shorts in the Winter? - drunkenpunkin
My 15 year old spent the night with his friend this Saturday. He popped his head in before he left to tell me goodbye. I asked of he has packed clothes and toiletries, etc. I neglected to ask what kind of clothes he packed. He walked home yesterday in shorts and a tshirt. I could have killed hi...

re: Girl meets world star comes out as queer. - drunkenpunkin
I see this as a young Hollywood type looking for attention. Being open to "whateva" is what all the cool kids are doing. But, if I were her mother, I'd pull social media in a heartbeat. I'm fine with gay people, but whatever happened to sexual matters being private? I don't care who you sleep wi...
