Well, when you want a particular car, you aren't getting taken to the cleaners.
All of this lowball advice only works if you are willing to compromise on what you want to drive.
Special order vehicles, with specific options, don't leave you much room to play the games that some advise.

That funny? There were ZERO in my 3 state area (TX, LA, MS)...I put down $500 for my local dealer to find what I wanted and they had to give it back (after too damn long of searching). I located the nearest dealer in the region east of me, Daphne AL, and did the same thing...it took them a while but they found one in Florida somewhere. I was at the dealership when the guy arrived with my truck, they traded the other dealership that had what I wanted something, IDK. I waited long enough for them to scrape the sticker off from the previous dealer and fill it up with gas. That is NOT how you get a deal on a vehicle.
Or were laughing that a Tacoma isn't a truck?

I've seen some licks made on used stuff, but nothing like that on a new unit.
Yeah I never ment new, although they do make money on new ones, but there is way made to be made in the used market.

Yes, very. I think it's funny that devoted Toyota fans allow this to be done to them. I see it all the time here.

They don't get it.
My last car, no dealer had one (with the brake package), in TX or LA, except in Baton Rouge.
I felt good to get $1500 off MSRP.

So glad y'all are out there.

I drove plenty of old stuff in HS and college.
I'm old enough to get what I want.

Pedaling through this in 4Lo would absolutely change your mind. I came from a GMC 1500 that I bought new and still feel strange going over tracks or bumps and NOTHING rattles. It's surreal, like...I can't even explain it, it's 'not right' to me.

It is when you realize you don't live forever and you want to drive what you want.

We are not communicating.

FWIW, I would never recommend the way I buy a car or truck to anyone.
In fact, I would recommend just the opposite. Find a unit on the lot you like, make a deal, go home.
The less you care about color, option packages, etc, the better deal you can get, generally speaking.
That said, I would never fault anyone for getting exactly what they want. You'll pay more, but WTH?

See I'm a little different, I buy basically base models and make them what I want. The aftermarket is cheaper than OEM for the same stuff and I like working on them.

Yep, the supercharger for the 2014 silverado should be here any day now.

Did you have to change the hood?
6.2 engine?
6.2 engine?

No hood change and it's a 5.3, I have a bunch of go fast stuff for the 5.3 laying around the shop so I bought the 5.3 instead of the 6.2. Between the supercharger and some other parts off my old 5.3 and a mild tune I should see 520 to 560 or so on pump gas and it'll be very streetable and driver friendly.

I had a car salesman and a manager try to sell me a truck for $6k over the advertised price on the internet, saying they'd only be making $275 at that price. I entertained them for 3 hours, and ended up showing them the internet add that they hadn't seen. They both got irate, the salesman threw his notebook across the room, and they wouldn't talk to me after that. Just walked off and left me there.
Of course I got a huge kick out of it, and of course they called me back a few days later trying to sell it to me for the advertised price. I ended up telling them to GFY because I wouldn't buy a car from such slime balls.
Bought a truck in Texas for MUCH cheaper two weeks later. That's the second truck I've bought from Texas, and I will not ever bother looking in Louisiana again. So many more options for so much cheaper
Eta: I have zero patience for the haggling bullshite. I don't tolerate walking back and forth pretending to talk to the sales manager. I tell them what I'll pay right off the bat, and if they don't like it, I'll walk. They usually call back within a week, and unless I get LOWER than what I originally offered, I don't bother with it. Don't waste my time
