More power to them, but why would people assume there would be a captive public audience when Olympic level decathlon competitions don't even get much of a viewing audience?

I'm not going to argue this. I've been doing it for two years without any injuries. You just have to know your limits and not be a fricking idiot.

Not really.

It's worked for me. Weight is up, body fat percentage is down. I'm close to being in the best shape I've been in since high school. Never been injured.

But it's not for everyone, and I do agree that the Games went overboard this year.

Good principles (which I favor) , bad applications (which is my main criticism of crossfit)

Complex motor movements with heavy weight to exhaustion is a bad idea

When I saw they brought in Murph I was shocked. And Murph is one of my favorite workouts. But to mix it in with a dozen or so other workouts in a 5-day period is insanity.

I've done Murph 4 times. It takes me 3 days to totally recover. Obviously I'm not an elite athlete but having this in the Games is absurd.

Whatever sissy, Crossfit is life and the WODs I post on Facebook are proof positive. Don't come around my Box and talk that trash. How about we give it a go at the next Warrior Dash!!!

its pretty brutal

I do half murph all the time in my local park and its a solid workout
That is fricking dumb to do as a competitive event.

Totally agree. That's why when you are doing complex motor movements you use a light weight. The heavy weights should be limited to when you are solely doing Olympic lifts and not combined with other cardio movements.

This is the part about not being a fricking idiot....lol

Yup. The Olympic and power lifts aren't meant to be done til exhaustion. As the body tires, proper form(which is crucial for these lifts) fails, and the potential for injury increases.

Yeah that's the dumbest thing doing Olympic lifts for tons of reps when you are already fatigued

I used to do crossfit. I'm probably gonna go back to it.

2 main problems with crossfit.

-high rep Olympic lifts

-out of shape people trying to do crossfit

It's an advanced exercise regime and if you don't have at least some level of physical fitness before you begin you will hurt yourself.

Crossfit and safety just don't mix. No one can convince me that a woman at 9 months pregnant should be performing overhead Olympic lifts.

Ah, old Dave Castro. The crossfit director who chased off every decent SME crossfit ever had, back when xfit was pretty useful and not the clown show it has become.

Any sport that takes good looking women and turns them into ugly men is not healthy.
