At that elite level, I think they've run out of ideas for "workouts" and have pushed the boundaries too far. Just look at the physiques competing nowadays. The drug use on the mens side is very apparent. Its bound to be happening with the women now too. Most of the top athletes are doing this full time and they have everything riding on contests and sponsorship opps.

It doesn't matter if they are swinging or jumping or anything weird. Do 100 pull-ups of any kind and get back to me

I do crossfit. And I think this is fricking great. Some of those women have larger arms than I.

No doubt, but they aren't doing WODs year around. Rich Froning doesn't have that strength nor add strength without some serious Olympic and Powerlifting workouts and steroids.

If all he did was WODs he'd lose all of that.

Most Crossfitters i see are super average and have had the same weight on the bar for months at a time.

I think it is heavily tested and the punishments are severe. The athlete can lose their license to run their gyms. That is where most of them make their money.

Crossfit needs to be careful with how their women are starting to look at the games. When the games first started they looked well, like women ... so it was appealing to women. Now those women look like men and so a huge marketing tool that "anyone can do crossfit" and "crossfit is for everyone" takes a hit.

Try it. Let me know how it works out

100 reps is a lot of anything

Bench press the bar 100 times. It is way tougher than you think

I completely agree. A know a crossfit hero who teaches classes but secretly does bodybuilding style routines and uses gear year round. His clients see him and think its a body built by crossfit.

No way dude. I've done them and even when my max was 25 strict pullups o could barely get more than 30 like that.

I have a buddy of mine who is into crossfit post this reddit thread on Facebook. Sad to read such a laundry list of folks being hurt at the highest levels of competition. I think circuit training is a fantastic format for working out, but adding in heavy weights, and little to no rest/recovery time is a recipe for disaster.

So how do you go about doing this? After the run. You break the pullups into sets until you get to 100 resting as little as possible the proceed to pushups and squats of do pullups to failue, pushups to failure, and squats to failure and start over till you get to the prescribed number of reps of each or does it matter?

I enjoy watching the games on TV for cringe factor.

Doing some of the most difficult moves that cause injury when done properly. And doing those to exhaustion is crazy. The form is a damned joke. But it has to be to keep up.

The pull ups with the kicks ?

The sit ups and back extensions?

And the snatch or clean and jerk (depending on who coached you and your age)?

Upright rows/rope pull?

Everything I see looks like the guy at the gym slamming the entire stack doing lat pulls and coming off the bench each time.

I realize there are levels and it can be done in moderation. I am sure your average man or woman can just get a great workout, but if you are trying to get to levels of the best? And you are 42 like me?
