The Texas Attorney General office is working to ensure consumers can't purchase gas from businesses during the Harvey disaster.

Some of the people in the gas shortage threads complaining about people filling up on gas when they don't need to and causing a shortage are the same people in the price gouging threads calling people who raise prices during a crisis the scum of the earth. They can have it one way or the other, but not both.

Ya, I'm sure they are. I may get down voted to eternity but price conveys information. It doesn't just represent an arbitrary number over cost.

Half the population maybe has gone to college, and high schools may or may not require economics so people have been exposed to one to three classes tops. Emotion takes control of over half the population. Therefore, politicians create price ceilings = shortage.

I agree with this statement. The oil industry lost tens of thousands of jobs in the last few years. Not because of a shortage of oil and gas but a surplus of refined and crude oil.
We as a nation have plenty, we just need to get it to the people that need it now. This will not happen overnight.
I worked 42 years in the industry, I've seen it before and it will happen again.

We have police directing traffic into stations or turning cars away up here in Frisco. Cars were backed up into tollway feeder road all day making traffic a nightmare.

Thanks DarthRebel. I'm actually on E because I underestimated the issue and nowhere around me had any. Or I'd have to wait an hour. That Costco is right around the corner from me.

Played a tournament at Springpark in Garland today. Didn't see gas any of the stations there. Being told by distributors that partial shipments only until next Friday. Maybe traffic will be better this week.

I just filled up for some travel that I will do and was completely surprised at how brisk the traffic is at all of the stations here in central MS. apparently, this panic is spreading a bit.

My b-i-l lives in McKinney. Yesterday he said he had to drive 40 miles north one way to find gas without a line of cars waiting. Said probably 50% of the stations he passed had "out of gas" signs posted.
