From City of Plano -
Gasoline Supply
*UPDATED with new refinery information 8/31 11:20 am*

I'm sure, like me, you've seen photos and reports about gasoline supply shortages.
Just released from the U.S. Department of Energy: Ten refineries in the Gulf Coast region are shut down and two refineries are operating at reduced rates. Six refineries have begun the process of assessing damage and restarting, which may take several days. Six refineries in the Corpus Christi area, seven in the Houston/Galveston area, and two in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area are shut down. Five refineries in Gulf Coast region are operating at reduced rates.
The Texas Oil and Gas Association reports any gasoline shortage is short term. Most of the issues are in South and Central Texas. The main problem, at this point, is logistics/transportation getting gas to where it needs to be.
An important note regarding pricing:
State law prohibits businesses from charging exorbitant prices for necessities during times of disasters. Violators could face penalties of $20,000 per incident. If victims are age 65 and older, the penalty is more than 10 times higher - up to $250,000.
The Texas Attorney General office is working to ensure consumers are protected from businesses looking to take advantage of the Harvey disaster.

We'll update this post as we get additional information.

We sure love our small government

Chances are, like after Katrina, refineries are upping production as we speak...

Seems like raising prices is the best solution in the short term for limited supply
Prevents baws from filling up a 100 gallon tank

Inventory isn't the problem, distribution from inventory is the short term problem

Or just limit the amount of gas each vehicle is allowed to get.

The three gas stations closest to me in Fort Worth are out of gas.

Just filled up in Texas City. There were 5 out of 22 pumps open.

How quickly will these stations get refilled?
Posted on 8/31/17 at 5:21 pm to BaylorTiger
I think 2-5 days, when the trucks can get around to their destinations easy. I don't think it's some nightmare scenario. I paid 2.09/gal as usual.

Wasn't directed at you, just upset with my state.

Every gas station I passed on my way home from work had cars spilling into the street blocking lanes of traffic. Costco on 183 had a police officer directing traffic in the parking lot.
