If the cops were smart, they would download Waze and report the location as an inaccurate location for police presence.

I'd imagine the people who are 'looking' to kill cops, are not the type to download and use Waze.

Pretty sure we've had one of the resident cops on this board say he'd actually mark himself on Waze because he knew it would get people to slow down. We need more of this, and less bullshite.

google paid a lot for that app and it's pretty much the only useful feature...

The traffic rerouting/directions is pretty legit, but I would imagine if it disabled the cop feature its user base would dwindle rendering the real time traffic useless.

They say one of the technology industry's most popular mobile apps could put officers' lives in danger from would-be police killers who can find where their targets are parked.

Which is why their cars are so hard to identify...

Maybe they should have invisible cars and cops, that way those wanting to kill them could never find them.

What about the opposite when people want to find a cop car to protect them from someone following them?

More proof cops are so fricking dumb it hurts

It saved my arse last night on the trip back from BR to Houston. Was going probably 10-12 over the speed limit and someone called it out right before I got there

I'm pretty sure they do that already. I've seen a cop icon go off and on several times while on I-10. I'm pretty sure it was a cop and a few drivers going back and forth. It's ridiculous honestly.

I guess announcing dwi checkpoints endangers their lives as well.

I regularly post my on location on waze when running radar, directing traffic, working wrecks etc. Some police administrators were promoted simply because they were colossal frick ups on the street.

Google should charge the departments a fee to set out fake points along interstate. It could be another Google advertising revenue stream.

I'm waiting for Waze to take advantage of the camera in all of these smartphones. Mount it to your dash, and let it ID and post cop locations, hazards, parked vehicles, construction, etc.

It's gotta be coming soon.

yep. it's great and pretty accurate for interstate and busy highway driving. not so much for backroad.

i dont get it to be honest. unless im mistaken you have to constantly check to see if there is a cop coming up.

When i drive to Tennessee I'm not going to check Waze every 5 minutes in a 5 hour trip.
