Auto insurance alone will save you at least a couple thousand in Mississippi. Madison is a really nice area and the new No State Income Tax being phased in is poised to suck even more businesses & residents out of Louisiana.

Over the next 20 years Mississippi is going to be one of the fastest growing states in the US with that no state income tax change.

Madison > Prarieville

But….

Baton Rouge > Jackson
New Orleans > Jackson
Louisiana > Mississippi (but I like both states)

At least if you travel through Jackson its quick whereas in Baton Rouge you get to watch the grass grow on the interstate system.

If it were an even swap, it might be a more difficult decision. Since they are compensating you much better, it’s a good move. You can also look at Flowood.

Madison is an upgrade over literally anywhere in Louisiana.

I have heard Madison is more liberal than other parts of Mississippi. Is this true?

Didn't think Hattiesburg was as nice as the others.

I live in Madison now. Great homes, great schools, plenty of local restaurants. It is much safer than other areas around Jackson, and the mayor has continued to do a great job of keeping the city looking nice over the years. I would highly recommend it.

it's much nicer than anywhere around BR but I can't speak for the North Shore, I don't know it well enough

I’ve lived in the Madison/Gluckstadt area for about 13 years. My only complaint is that, compared to Flowood and 047 Brandon, there are not that many good places to eat in Madison. Ridgeland has some good spots, but again, not as many as Flowood/Brandon

Hattiesburg might not be the best, but it’s damn sure better than NO or BR for a family. I don’t know anything about Olive Branch or Ocean Springs but they are all probably better than everything south of the Lake.

Sorry to bust your thread wide open, but I lived in both towns, albeit briefly, and imo Prairieville rips the shite out of Madison, Mississippi.

My only complaint against Prairieville is that it's a growing suburb, (the only real suburb BR has actually) that is forever reason uncomfortable admitting such.

Their schools are busting at the seams, but they are still maintaining top three or five rankings in the state.

Who the frick said that?

Madison literally exists because they were sick of Jackson's amount of black people. The city is full of a bunch of white 40-70 year olds and their families.
