I always laugh at people glad to escape Louisiana yet move to somewhere in MS, AL, or AR.

NW Arkansas is world fricking class FYI.

Huntsville, AL is consistently rated one of the best places to live.

Madison >>> Prairieville, but you're still only a few miles from Jackson, and it's creeping closer every day

Why would you laugh at someone upgrading their living situation?

LA is literally the worst state in the entire country.

Depending on where in Louisiana you’re moving out of, it could be a huge fricking upgrade.

Chicken farms and meth labs?

Have you ever been there? It’s a whole lot nicer than you are describing.

To be fair, I consider all of MS a chicken farm, scattered between meth labs... then theres Jackson and Grenada
But yes, central MS is chicken farm heaven... and that's not wrong

Madison is pretty nice. A pretentious crowd, but you get that when you’re a top 5 town in a bottom 5 state and you’ve got 2 Kroger’s.

Just typical suburb shite to do for the most part.

If you like to light thousands of dollars on fire thinking it’s going to turn your kid is a 5 tool prospect, big travel ball crowd over there.

If you like boating, you’ve got the reservoir. If you like hunting, you’re less than 20 minutes from incredible deer hunting, but that’s going to cost more than the travel ball.

Also, unlike most of the state, the public schools will have your kids reading on the same grade level they’re actually in and not 4 grades behind the rest of the country, so there’s that.

Hattiesburg

Just moved to West Hattiesburg from Grapevine, TX. Beautiful area. No way do I get this view in DFW. Love the terrain around here. Far enough from the coast not to get completely destroyed by a hurricane either. Have an acre lot and a nice home for a third of what it would cost in DFW.

A few pros I can think of are no state income tax

Ms has a state income tax, it's 3.5 percent

Madison is a great town with a great school district.

Madison is exactly what St George aspires to be. If you don't have any loyalty to LSU or the Saints, you won't notice much difference from BR except their accent and less traffic.

I grew up in prairieville and went to school not far from Madison—it’s not even a comparison how much nicer Madison is.

Used to live in Madison. That town is a beacon in the darkness that is known as Mississippi.

No brainer, take the promotion. Hell, I’d take a pay cut to move from Prarieville to Madison.

It's MS version of Mand/Cov but with better hunting and less traffic. I would live there easily.

Parents live in Madison.

It's a nice area and the city leaders don't take any shite.

Good restaurant scene, too.

Prairieville is where you move to get out of Baton Rouge... Madison is where you move to get out of Prairieville.
