Size-wise, nothing you mentioned touches the Yukon. I can almost tow as much with my Tahoe as I could with my Z71 truck. Luxury wise, the interiors of Yukons/Tahoes/Suburbans can get pretty nice....not as nice as the luxury brands, but pretty nice. And maintainence is HUGE. There's a Chevy/GMC dealer in almost every town that can work on your vehicle. My wife has a car that the only dealerships that can work on it under warranty are in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and the NOLA area. We're about 50 minutes away from the closes dealer, and it's a pain when it needs to be brought in for a small maintainence issue. takes up half of a Saturday and you can't just go run and drop it off before work.

I think people confuse dependability/reliability and longevity.

Parts should never wear(?), and according to American manufacturers it should always drive sloppy. Hell, if you like sloppy handling you don't have to maintain the German vehicle.

Out of his range, but that thing is bulletproof.

As strong a of a resale as you can get in that segment.

The problem is you are going to pay pretty close to MSRP to get it out the door.

my definition of luxury/dependability/reliability/longevity : a car that i can perform basic maintenance on and it never BREAKS DOWN RANDOMLY while driving..aka range rover

i dont always buy cars..but when i do i dont want to spend the same amount i paid originally to keep it running.

No shite. We aren't talking a Camry vs a Malibu. These are SUVs. They don't come more dependable than the Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban.

Those particular SUVs he listed are just short of maintenance nightmares. Now, we can talk Toyota Sequoia or Nissan Armada. These things are much less a headache than the German ones.

I don't see what's wrong with spending $75-80k on an SUV and keeping it for 10 - 15 years. This isn't the 1970s, with inflation prices of goods go up. You work hard and you reward your family with life's little luxuries.

Why not a 7 series sedan?

It's your money, do what you want to.

Personally, I can't see paying that much for a vehicle unless we were bringing in 400k or more, but that's probably just a personal comfort thing. When we're older and not blowing our money on other stuff I may come around to it.

I can guarantee my $30k F150 is almost as luxurious as the SUVs you're looking at. At the very least there is not $50k worth of difference. You'll lose more in depreciation in 2 to 3 years than my truck cost. Have fun with that.

Can you ever not make this asinine argument when it comes to SUVs?

Gonna have to disagree on this one. I'll take the Porsche over the American made vehicle when it comes to reliability and the need for maintenance. And when the Porsche does need maintenance, the service department will bend over backwards to take care of you. Even for minor maintenance, they've brought a loaner to my house and took my car in. And I didn't even purchase my car from the local dealer. I've never experienced anything like Porsche's service department.

Get over your "personal bias" and get this. You can get it nicely outfitted for under $60k
