You'll take the German car for the way it drives, not for the cost of maintenance. You can't sit here with a straight face and tell me that German cars are either cheaper to maintain or require less maintenance. You just can't
Yes, I can. Cost for a specific repair (if needed) may be more, but it's far less likely to need repair because it isn't an American made piece of shite. At least that has been my experience.

I have 5 kids. Don't really have a choice at this point. (I tried selling a kid or two, the wife stopped me). The Minivan is full....can't put much more in it after car seats and a stroller. The suburban will be the vehicle of choice for trips and such.
Gaston would tell you to just have less kids

When I was growing up this was all my parents needed for a family of 6.

Then you've bought bottom of the barrel American cars, or haven't bought one in this century.

No doubt, I love the Gwagens and I'm pushing hard for mi madre to get one after she gets rid of her suburban. Just saying that the price was outside if the OPs range.
What car were you looking at? And of course you loved a luxury convertible, that's why it's $250k.

Maybe these people are absolutely loaded and can actually afford to pay off for vehicles like that. There's a lot of people in this world with a lot of money. Why does it even matter to you anyway?

Oh jeez, 5 kids? I think they make special religions for that.
I have one kid and I worry too much already.

I'm buying an SUV for more interior to haul stuff around that I don't want to keep in a trunk or under a truck bed cover.
The GL looks like a minivan, and the Audi/Porsche do not have the same space that a Denali XL/Suburban LTZ has.

not compared to toyota or honda. japanese share parts between toyota/lexus and honda/acura and due to economies of scale, parts are plentiful and cheap.
my friend has an audi and i've watched him cuss and scream about having to replace not one..not two..not three..but all 4 window's electrical systems.
my other friend has fairly recent toureg and the entire electronic touchscreen system went out..and its so expensive to have them troubleshoot the electrical issues he simply just left it that way.
google 'electrical issues german vehicles' and i bet you'll be astonished.

I don't need a special religion. Just a bigger vehicle for trips.

For sure. I rarely see them on the road, but always love them when I do.
It's actually not a convertible. It was just in that section with the roadsters. My bad.
The 2014 AMG.
Hahahhaha I know I know.

Station wagons. Wife will have none of it.

I've driven plenty of them and they're very solid, and will shite and get for weighing forty million pounds.
SLS AMG Black. Pretty sweet, indeed.

FWIW I like that E wagon. Audi makes one as well, IIRC.

My wife drove a Q7 for 3 years, I feel his pain.....I traded that damn money pit in for a Enclave. Best day of my life

Last American made car I had was a 2010 Transformers Edition Camaro 2SS, bought new for $40K. Just a tad over 3 years later, I had to pay $1,800 to replace the exhaust system. Only the muffler had an issue, but the exhaust system was all one piece so the entire exhaust had to be replaced. And it was just a couple months out of warranty, of course. $1,800 for a MUFFLER on a 3 year old car.
An example of Porsche maintenance: bring your car in for a thorough track-day tech inspection, which is free, and they will flush and replace the brake fluid for cost of the brake fluid only - no labor.

I haven't heard many good things from Escalade owners.
Wouldn't that then carry over to the Denali, since they are esentially sister vehicles?
Anyway, all I'm saying is that if I'm spending 75k on a vehicle I want a little cachet to go with it, whether it's Caddilac or the import luxury brands.
And for those arguing about service cost... if you're buying an $80k vehicle, you *should* be able to handle cost of maintenance.
