How long can Walmart stay on top when so many people dislike the stores?

Do you know anyone who enjoys going to Walmart? Most of us know people who say they hate going there. They rank near the bottom of most satisfaction surveys.

I don't shop there.

How long can that company continue to be the largest in the world when so many people dislike the experience of going there?

probably 70% of the general american public shops their or at Sam's Club. Add up all their international locations and they are an indestructible monster. They aren't going anywhere.

Well, the people who hate going there are mostly the same people who are still going there. They just hate it.

We don't like it because it's full of trashy people - who all love it. That's their core, and there are plenty enough of them.

Amazon is now the most valuable retailer in the world. The online retail giant's market value is about $250 billion. Walmart (WMT) is worth a little more than $230 billion.

The frick are people so dumb to spend what time they have on Earth voluntarily spending time in place they hate. My minutes above ground are worth an extra $5 for something.

The people shopping at WalMart aren't the ones who hate it.

The people who hate it don't shop there that much anyway.

You may hate going there, but you still go there. They will continue for a very, very long time. They have structural advantages that cannot be matched without a massive, massive investment. These advantages allow a wide range at the lowest average prices.

Wal-Mart will outlast your grandchildren.

I love these types of discussions when people think "my friends hate this place so how are they still in business?" Their distribution and logistics - unmatched. Their scale demanding bulk discounts - unmatched. Their scale demanding private label options from branded suppliers - unmatched.

Think of Black Friday. By all accounts a miserable experience, so why don't people just stay home? They want the deals.

Think of a company like Comcast - the most hated company in the world. They are still printing money due to their structural advantages and business model.

Amazon's stock may be worth more but Wal-Mart's sales dwarf Amazon's and will for quite some time.

Most who dislike Walmart are far left wingers who don't realize their policies have led to the conditions that made Walmart profitable.

In North Kenner we have a walmart Super market and a Supercenter. Rouses closed and Winn Dixie closed. I have to go to Metairie to make groceries.

yeah I dont enjoy going but if I need a couple of cheap items I still go. For instance last week I needed a broom, dust pan, and a swifter thing. Got out of there under $20 and the self checkout actually went nicely.

Hey, don't be knocking my Walmart. I pile the kids up in the pickup at least 3 times a week and haul them there. You realize they got a wall of TV's that will zone a kid out for hours? I'll leave them there while I go back home and bone one of their moms.

For every person that hates it, there's 3 people that love it. That's how.

I haven't been in a Wal Mart in years. The closest supercenter is over an hour away. Costo and a commissary within 10 min away.
