Did you switch interests to something else entirely? That's what I do, rotate hobbies often. ...

re: PC Discussion - Gaming, Performance and Enthusiasts - ILikeLSUToo
It really makes me cherish the time I have left with my dad. He'll be 65 this year, which isn't all that old, but I've stopped taking for granted that we have all these years ahead of us. The older I get, the more these kinds of thoughts weigh heavily on me. ...

re: How do you handle being overwhelmed at work? - ILikeLSUToo
I'm in that position right now on one of the biggest projects I've ever had to deal with, using far fewer resources than would be typically required for this kind of effort. A couple of folks came down with whatever flu-like virus is going around. Others are taking the "I'm salaried, so I'm done at ...

re: Did the prosecution and LAPD do a really bad job in the OJ Simpson case? - ILikeLSUToo
I've been watching the American Crime Story series, so my "facts" on the case might be skewed by Ryan Murphy drama. However, the episode I last watched (second to last of the series), Fuhrman was asked outright if he planted or manufactured evidence for this case specifically, and he pleaded the fif...

re: OnePlus 3T OS - ILikeLSUToo
I was concerned about this as well. Nexus 6 was my first Android experience, and I've been apprehensive about any other (non-stock) version of Android every since. But I was pleasantly surprised. I've had my 3T for about a month, and it's a non-issue. I find myself missing other features about the N...

re: PC Discussion - Gaming, Performance and Enthusiasts - ILikeLSUToo
My monitor space is limited only by the size of the desk I can have. If I ever get a bigger house with room for an office, I'd definitely get a long desk and several monitors. For the project I'm on right now, I could easily use 4 16:9 monitors or 2-3 ultrawides....

Flood victim tax deductions - ILikeLSUToo
My home was flooded in August. Zone X, no flood insurance. FEMA provided $14K in emergency assistance. I did not use any contractors, and spent around $25K to make the home whole again. This figure includes: - Building materials (drywall/insulation, floors, paint, molding, counters, etc.) - ...

re: Do you "read" an audio book? - ILikeLSUToo
In my experience people who are paying to listen to books in the car aren't cutting corners, they're usually professionals willing to pony up for Audible or the like because they can't find as much time to read as they'd prefer.
Exactly. Since I started working from home, in fact, ...

re: Do you "read" an audio book? - ILikeLSUToo
Does it have a negative connotation or something?
I had a friend who gave me shite about listening to audiobooks vs. actually reading the text myself. I don't know why. The basic ability to read and comprehend is not a talent that deserves higher regard. I used to have a long dai...

I wish I had time for anything fun. Working 12 hrs. a day basically until the 22nd, and I'm salaried. Project at work is the most stressful situation I've ever been in, and I've almost resigned twice....

re: PC Discussion - Gaming, Performance and Enthusiasts - ILikeLSUToo
I've heard bad things about their customer service. But I suppose if you order something, and it ships without issue, no big deal. My biggest point of consideration is return policy. I pretty much go with Amazon as my first choice even if it's more expensive (within reason). I rarely need to retu...

re: Has anyone ordered furniture from wayfair.com? - ILikeLSUToo
Other than our couch and mattresses, we refurnished our entire house post-flood with Wayfair. Our TV stand arrived with a scratched top, and they sent a replacement top pretty quickly. Now I have this huge scratched board, might make some shelves out of it. I actually find furniture assembly ther...

re: How to make a dumb light switch smart? - ILikeLSUToo
According to a CNET review, they will fit on multi-gang plates, but you can't install more than one side-by-side. It would certainly be a simple solution that wouldn't require a hub or anything, but is limited to bluetooth range. Alternatively, you could replace the switch with a smart switch, buy ...
