Toss in the ones that should be retired but work a 1/2 day week clinic as a preceptor for the local med students/residents, and you've got yourself some real low-earners.

Another consideration is the size and scale of the federal government's health system.
DoD bases, NIH, VA, et al., these all carry lower salaries than the private sector, dramatically so.
There are a lot of civilian providers working in this capacity. Much of their compensation is in the form of benefits, not just wages. Retirement benefits being the most prominent.

I'm just looking for a new dentist in Texas after going in Baton Rouge for years. Westerman in Baton Rouge is as skilled and honest as they come, so I am hoping for somebody similar in the Woodlands.
I might give Wambaugh a try this week - looking for somebody in their 50's who has a great track record and is not part of the newer generation you are talking about. We'll see how it goes.

Recommending equilibration when the patient isn't reporting any problems. Filling teeth that don't really need to be filled.

Anyone that would do this is a fool. But the not reporting of problems from whose perspective. I saw a patient recently with moderate abfractions on almost all posterior teeth and a very worn 8,9,10 and 11 making his smile slope up on the left side abruptly. He rated his dental health 8 out of 10 and didn't report any problems.
I removed a supraerupted 3rd molar and made him a nightguard in an attempt to prevent future damage.
Should I be able to sleep at night?

this argument could be made for any profession. Anyone who doesn't make the amount of the money that they think they should bitches about the ones who do. Doesn't matter the profession. Pussification of america in its finest

I know. We need to think of some new professions to BBQ. The doctors have been skewered pretty often. Lawyers are served up pretty regular. Optometrists have been hit, and also dentists.
Engineers dance around like they are immune, but if remember the time when they couldn't get a job. Plant operators are riding high now.

Should a dentist charge the same to put a crown on a tooth that already had a crown? I was in and Out of there in 45 minutes as all the major drilling had been done years ago. This was after a root canal of same tooth. Say goodbye 2k.
