No they are charging twice now. They quit just accepting just what the insurance pays and start charging you the same. Trying to say that insurance just has not raised their rates.

They can balance bill. We cannot, it's illegal. I think they should be held to the same standards as docs. I get tired of dealing with their complications after hours. Like us, they should lose their license for pt abandonment for not addressing these calls. Even if the do answer, they tell them to call their doc. Guess what...we don't get paid for "dental services". I'm not a big fan of dentists and their bullshite practices.

If that's the case then dentists < doctors (as long as the doctor knows how to play the game)

Yep. If they fell under the same reg's we did, it'd be a lot different. I think we should be able to pull teeth and do cleanings. I think I'll start a push for it. Nothing to it. Maybe do some whitenings. I figure I'm licensed to deal with pt's most complex medical issues (including dental shite their dentist won't handle after hours, on weekends, or emergencies..without a shite ton of cash up front), surgeries, vent management, advanced life and trauma support etc...I should be able to pull a tooth and clean some teeth.

In dental school

It's really not as great as you think though. Lot of hard work and you don't reap the big salaries until you're well out of school

Much of that is the cost of caps, crowns etc. Which THEY get paid for up front or at least guaranteed by insurance. Their actual overhead is pretty low. My SIL works for one that does well. He pays for shite, gives no insurance, and of course gives no free care. This is usually the case. I know ZERO dentist that do indigent care.

ETA-not saying there aren't any at all that do good things. I just don't know any. And I know a lot.
