Crossfit is a joke

$140 a month for that BS

And paleo is a shame. Bro science at its best

Legumes and Dairy are some of the healthiest foods known to man. Let's only eat what cave men ate because they all had a life expectancy of 25

people say its going to die out, but it's only growing. get in now cause it's going to be the norm within 5 years as it gets fine-tuned imo

or in your case just ask TD how to workout

I have worked out most of my adult life. I will start fitness threads to get ideas, input etc. I do not need a "coach" or a class to show me how to workout.

Crossfit isnt going anywhere. With all of the products and advertising that Reebok has pumped into it, and now with Nike starting to come out with CF shoes and clothing. It's a money making machine thats only going to grow.

My lifting sessions were about 90 min 5-6 days per week and adding any legit cardio would push it to 2 hours.

I do 30 mins in the morning (320 pushups in uneven sets), 300 raised-leg crunches, and 200 situps).

37 minutes on the treadmill. 25-35 minutes on the weights/machines. That's Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri.

On Wednesdays I do sprint intervals for 30 minutes (start off with a moderate paced jog for an 8 minute mile, then 45s on, two minutes off on the sprints out to 30 mins. On Saturday I either rest or work in 35-mins on the elliptical. All in all, about 400mins per week (when I'm good). Not such a terrible commitment when I'm not travelling.

I've always used supersets and circuit training and i'm done in an hour, 3x/week. Run 5 miles 3x/week.

I guess i've been doing it wrong

one sided mainly.

find some unbiased studies, most will tell you that it isnt any more dangerous than general fitness workouts.

every type of physical activity has dangers. Even something as simple as running

That's what im saying. Whether people want to believe it or not.

The Crossfit Open introduced scaled and teen divisions this year. The brand is just going to swallow more people into it.

Companies like Reebok, Nike, & ESPN have all invested a lot.

I know more people that do zero exercise that have the same or more problems. Same goes for long time runners. Everyone's body breaks down with age. I dont know how many times it has to be said, crossfit, P90X, sitting on a couch, picking up groceries, done with bad form/mechanics will lead to problems. If crossfit has done anything wrong, it has a certification process that is too watered down, leading to some horrible "trainers".

To anyone looking to improve their fitness, no matter what program you use...

They're selling themselves as a method, when in reality they are just something that's trendy enough to keep people interested. And that's the key to staying in shape. Interest. Dedication. Discipline.

First off, Crossfit officially began in 2000 (I say officially because despite what others have said in this thread, I'm well aware that crossfit did not invent Olympic lifting and burpees). I wouldn't call something that's been around 15 years a fad or trendy.

But to your other point, I agree completely. Interest. Dedication. Discipline.

I like crossfit and it works for me. I have great trainers who create a workout for me. As someone who is not a fitness expert, that's beneficial to me. It forces me to push myself when if I was on my own I probably wouldn't.

And yes, the comradery is a great part of it. I've made friends after moving across the country thanks to it, and more importantly, I've never once been intimidated or embarrassed because people are genuinely encouraging and want to see you succeed. And you feel the same way about them.

I get that that's not for everyone, nor would I expect it to be. And I certainly don't think I'm a better athlete or work out harder than people that don't do crossfit. It's just the method that has built my interest in fitness, and I enjoy going to the gym which makes me dedicated to continuing to go, and I have great trainers that keep me disciplined and on task.

Tl;dr- I like crossfit and don't understand the hate. To each his own and it's funny that crossfit people get more hate on here than people that do not exercise at all.

I don't see why people don't just do SS + GOMAD if they want to improve themselves. It's nature's perfect program

I was strength and size training so my workouts were 4-5 lifts with about 85% max weight.

2-3 min rests between sets.

So each lift was about 15 min including warmup/weight acclimation sets.

I'm nowhere near those ratios and neither are most people unless if they learn the right technique and programming.
