Colorado isn't an option compared to Canyon if you ask me.

I just think the Canyon look a lot better and has a nicer interior than the Colorado.

2016 Tacoma/Canyon/Colorado

To be honest all 3 look frickin awesome. I think Id be happy pulling a name from a hat

Same here. But what has me leaning heavy toward Tacoma is resale value. From what I've read, they hold their value much better than the other 2. And, Toyota reputation on quality.

I can't believe what used Toyota Tacomas sell for. Am I wrong anyone, do Canyon/Colorado do the same? I sincerely don't know. Their interior is def nicer.

This is why for me. I've always thought gmc looks better than Chevy. I also feel you get a little nicer overall package with gmc. You see less gmc on the road and it looks a lot like its big brother.

i think it's a known for tacoma's, but unknown for the others. gm just started building them again this year, so it will take a couple years to get a good idea about resale. if they are reliable (which they will likely be), i imagine they will hold their value pretty well, if not quite as much as the taco. if it were me, i'd just buy the one i liked driving better

I think right now the gmc/Chevy have a better package and look better unless you are a heavy off roader.

However, if resale value is your top concern go with Toyota. It will hold its value much better if not simply because of its multiple decades worth of proven resale value and longevity.

I think the Toyota looks dated but because of that it still resembles 10 year old trucks. I wish they would do a complete remodel of the taco rather then freshening it up like they just did.

I have no intentions of getting a 4x4. I just cannot have a 4x4, if I get one then I have to use it and that costs me all kinds of money in repairs.

If I have a 4x4 I'm going to drive into every mud puddle I see. So I get a 2x4 so I don't. I went through two engines in my old Montero (the big one not the sport) off roading before I decided "no more". It's just too much fun. I think most here get the 4x4 for the status and never go off road. (assuming, but still the people I know with 4x4 never really use it)

So all being equal I think I prefer the new GM products better, but want to see how resale goes.

I hear you. I read a stat the other day that something like 60% of truck sales are 4 wheel drives, so a lot of people buy 4x4 without much intention to use them. I guess it's a rather have it then not situation.

However, if you live in a snow climate an drive a truck 4x4 are necessary.

All my buddies have 4x4's. They pull into the duck camp or hunting camp and unload there side by side or 4 wheel atv's, so in reality they did t have to buy the 4x4 truck to do the hobbies they like except to haul the four wheel atv's to the woods.

The '16 Taco blows the Colorado away

Ha ha fan boys are funny, the new taco sux, and the twins are much higher rated, check any site.

If you want a really cool go pro mount get a taco to go with the back pain from the uncomfortable seats, oh and enjoy the plastic bed as well.

who cares about resale value, only taco owners the only leg they can stand on.

disagree, I did a lot of research before I bought my 16 Canyon...4 wheel drive only helps you go straight, tires are the MOST critical item in any driving conditions, most northerners' just toss sand tubes over the rear axle and that is all you need.

The Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon has unbeatable legroom for very tall people - way better than the so-called full sized Tundra I used to own.

Go to Cars.com, pull up the body and trim level you want, search nationally for the lowest price, and tell your local dealer you'll fly out and drive it home if they don't price match.

This strategy saved us many thousands of $$$ with a local GMC dealer.

That's exactly how I feel. And resale is pretty important for me. But most important is reliability. That's why I'm leaning toward Toyota. I don't like their look as much, though, but it's not bad.

Lol....just stating FACT! You sound like a good little Chevy salesman, though.
We should revisit this topic in a few years to compare the two. Leasing is one thing but I buy vehicles to last, so GM products are out for me. I currently drive an older 4runner , which has been near flawless so I'll prob be getting a '16-17 Taco. Good luck on your GM purchase!

I think they are easily the best products in their market segment. I'm very interested in the 2.8L turbodiesel model. 31 mpg with a towing capacity of 7700 lbs is incredible. I'm probably going to buy a crew cab diesel model after the dealers stop marking them up in a year or so.

I've had excellent luck with Chevrolet trucks in the past. I've put over 150,000 miles on the last Silverado I had with no issues at all. I'd probably look at the Canyon though because I think that the GMC dealers are typically better than the Chevrolet dealers.
