I am 110% a ford guy and it hard for me to leave my 2015 F150. You won't see me buying one for myself at this time. I bought it for my father who wanted a truck to haul little stuff around while having a smaller vehicle which is easier to drive.
My father is a gmc guy and at his age the big Sierra was a little to big for him plus he does not need a full size truck.
I shopped around and saw more Nissan frontiers packages they ranged $24k to $34k depending on options. I rented one for him and I even drove it and it was ok. I didn't like small center consol. I am use to putting my arm on the consol when I drive long distances so that frustrated me. Ride was also rough compared to other mid size trucks.
We looked at Toyota and big issue ride wasn't as good as new GMC Canyon in how Toyota doesn't package options as well as Nissan and GM. Cost was higher than I would like to pay for his truck.
We drove by a gmc dealer and saw some small canyons out front. We looked at two one was 4x4 with z type package and other 4x2 fairly decently loaded. I let dad test drive it and he could part in tighter spots than he could with GMC Sierra. I drove it and for a mid size truck I was impressed with the car like ride over tradition bumpy stiff ride. Will it last don't know. Can it tow a boat yes but I wouldn't go crazy and tow 22 ft bay boat.
Sometimes we take his truck fishing on our bi weekly trips and it tows my boat fine. It is not an f150 but it handles good for a midsize truck.

You do realize the diesel is almost a $4,000 premium over the v6, right?!
Lol, you'll never make that up. Dumb.

The Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon are definitely the best mid sized trucks you can buy right now.
The Duramax Diesel engine definitely interests me.

It tows about 700lbs more than the gas powered V6 and offers 30+ mpg. I don't think they'll have a problem selling every diesel truck they build.

My 2016 cyber gray slt, picked it up in October. Looks green at times blue at other. Love it so far, best mpg 27.6 worst 19.8. Coming from a Nissan rogue, feels about the same size cabin wise, but has a bed, and can tow 7k compared to 1500#. It is a bit more firm ride wise but was more comfortable to me than the other's all of which I drove. There is an old thread about that somewhere.
I like to stir the pot with taco fan boys, they are hardcore, I have had vehicles just as reliable as the legendary toyota, and resale value only counts if someone will give you that much. I would not.
Bottom line I bought what I liked best, I bought a Canyon.

They started accepting orders on 9/8 for the duramax. There are plentry of guys waiting, posting the build status, chatting with the factory to find out when it will be delivered. They cannot keep up with the orders placed and are moving production of their panel van to another factory to try and catch up with orders. Sales have exceeded projection by a wide margin. Pretty sure it will be motor trend truck of the year.

Do you know how much the duramax is going for?
Posted on 12/1/15 at 7:35 pm to member12
So what!.... With the Duramax you'll be paying almost $40,000 for a midsized truck...a GM one at that. You can get a well equipped full sized f150 XLT Sport, Silverado, or Sierra (if you must) for that kind of coin with a v8, more room & better towing.

Some people just don't want or need a full size truck. How many time does this have to be stated?

I know it's not a new one but I own a 2006 Colorado. Bought it brand new 10 years ago. I have 120k on it and I haven't had not one problem with it. Just wanted to throw that info out to you. Would love a new one but I really like not having a truck note

The Duramax powered Colorado is 2016 Motor Trend truck of the year. The gas version of the same truck won the award last year.

I talked to dad to see how his 2015 canyon doing he loves it. The issue he had was transmission didn't shift correctly and they reprogrammed it twice which after the 2nd time it fixed the issue.
If I was in the market for smaller truck I would buy one for myself. Dads truck is fun to drive and if do light hauling and tow small boat it's fine.
GM did hit a home run in this body style. Now I like the gmc look better.

Just wanted to update those who were interested as well. I test drove the red Z71 2016 Colorado and not only is it sleek and bad arse looking but it feels awesome as well. One of the top 3 best trucks I've ever drove. For those of you thinking about it, I suggest you give it a test drive.

I have a 2016 Colorado, Crew LT 4x4 short bed. I finally got rid of my 2002 Outback. Its a better ride, better price, and better interior/exterior than the new taco. Taco has a better approach angle tho...Anyways, I wanted a pick up truck and won't need to tow more than 7000# possibly ever, certainly not anytime soon. I wanted the utility of a truck bed in a vehicle with 4x4 and that's what I got. I don't have any complaints, of course the truck only has 2k miles on it
You cannot get a similarly equipped model year full size truck at the same price as a colorado or a canyon no matter what the guys with full size trucks tell you. I use Carplay nearly every single time I'm driving and I'd get a 2016 for that reason only.
