Don't know about that, but he will be a great rotation player. He is raw, but very talented. Will be a great defender and hustle guy for many years. His rebounding is very underrated as well. He has good ball skills and can snatch it one handed with ease with that big hands.

Not sure why he played so little at Kansas.

I say solid and def a steal. I think his ceiling would be him having a Ibaka like career. Which I'd def take!

He got NCAA'd

Came in behind right off the bat and KU also had like 3 upperclassmen bigs while being a top 5 team on top of all that.

His stats aren't what's impressed me, it's how well he's held his ground considering how young and light weight he is. He also seems to get himself into good position. We do need to see if he can do the same against NBA bigs, but if he can we have a future starter and Asik's replacement.

Because Perry Ellis, Jamari Traylor, Carlton Bragg, Landen Lucas, Hunter Mickelson had more experience and were system players. Bill Self has a system (High Low) and if you aren't going to run his system then you will not play. I was really excited about Diallo before coming to KU because of his effort he showed during the McDonalds AA game. Just has a motor on him. However, he definitely needs a year maybe 2 to become a star. If he stayed one more year in KU's system he would've been a lottery pick. It's amazing to see KU bigs their first year and then a major change the second year. Cliff Alexander should've stayed another year too.

With that said...Diallo has so much upside. He just needs to stay hungry and learn. He hasn't played basketball for that long. Being that I am a die hard KU fan from New Orleans makes me happy to keep up with him. I am pulling for him and I think he will be a key rotation guy for the Pels once he gets comfortable.

Dumb decision for him to go to KU then if he planned on being one and done.

As far as I'm concerned, it was the best decision he could have made.... For the Pelicans.

Not really. He was part of the 12th straight Big12 championship. He got experience but the year was cut short with the NCAA BS.

The Kansas product came out of nowhere for a couple of his four blocks, causing Pelicans summer head coach Robert Pack to compare Diallo's ability in that specific part of help defense to that of Dikembe Mutombo, a former Nuggets teammate in the 1990s.

If this thread was titled, 'Diallo will outperform his draft position," I would be 100% behind it. I think, in five years, he is a top 12-15 player from this draft.

Star? I'm gonna say no, but I am gonna love this guy

A big that can play next to AD for 30 minutes a game would exceed expectations of his draft slot by a mile. I'm still trying to figure out if he'd be the PF or C next to AD, and I guess if he lives up to his potential they could be interchangeable. Seeming to have an adequate midrange jump shot gives a lot of flexibility.

That's really the big man dream in modern team building. Interchangeable on defense with enough mobility to help on the perimeter, and, on offense, good roll man skills with at least one guy having range (~18-20 feet) and decent floor game (for a big)

If they can get even just a portion of that from a 20 year old, mid 30s pick over the next few years, that will be a great, great success.

This is a reasonable position.

Ill take it a little further. Biyombo just signed for 4/72. Can anyone really say that he his definitely degrees of magnitude better than Diallo?
