re: Offseason Trade Possibility - corndeaux
I have a hard time believing the Mavs won't try to keep Chandler. Dirk only has so many years left and he took a massive pay cut last summer. It would be a hell of a gamble. Renouncing 2 of your top 6, both under 30, for just a chance at a 33 year old 5 is crazy on the surface. If they mi...

re: Pelicans to offer Anthony Davis five-year deal that could approach $140M - corndeaux
(I've seen talk of going to $89 then $108)
Both Aldridge and Lowe have mentioned that. They also both say it's very real that the cap will drop to under $100M the year after a second spike. There was a morning tip about this a month ago...

re: Offseason Trade Possibility - corndeaux
Ajinca is the definition of replacement player. I doubt his post up numbers hold up and he will always have trouble fouling. If they bring him back for more than one year, Demps is crazy. I was confused why Mason never had a keep Asik, Cole, renounce Ajinca option in that article. You listed a coupl...

re: Pelicans to offer Anthony Davis five-year deal that could approach $140M - corndeaux
inflationary cap environment he'll probably want one
Another big thing is the looming CBA opt out which could kill the 17/18 season and dramatically alter (for good or bad) the landscape. Yet another reason Davis will accept the extension soon after it's offered. Locking in that mu...

re: Offseason Trade Possibility - corndeaux
You're not actually going small if the opponent can keep their center in the game and match him up v Thompson. He's a better finisher than Asik (who isn't :badabing:) but he's nowhere near the defensive rebounder or defender Asik is. I'd rather pay Asik $13M/year than Thompson. If the Warriors se...

re: Offseason Trade Possibility - corndeaux
Thompson? Really? He is a nice player. He can crash the offensive glass and rebound, but has no real game on offense and isn't a rim protector. Plus he's a RFA looking for a payday (turned down ~$13M/year this fall) and is represented by LeBrons agency. He isn't an Asik replacement and he wil...

re: Some gems so far from Jimmy Smith's season ending chat today - corndeaux
I don't think Smith is necessarily wrong. Evans is better w/r/t vision, penetration, and durability. Holiday makes less dumb decisions, but they're still there. Holiday is the better player because he'll play defense. But Evans is better on offense IMO.
his assists usually come to play...

re: Pelicans have the talent to win. - corndeaux
One problem is we have too many one dimensional players.
Yup. They get exposed badly in the playoffs. Not certain how far this group can go. They likely need a better player to be Davis's Robin. But, I would love to see a better (or easier for The players to understand/execute)...

re: So Aminu and Rivers had game saving playoff games today - corndeaux
That's just not true. Aminu/Anderson/Evans played well together last year. Add Holiday/Q and Davis to that trio and you have an intriguing 5 man unit. ETA: I agree with SP. Aminu/Monty isn't a good mix. Not that Aminu is some great player, but he just didn't seem to fit the system here. It h...

re: Pelicans to offer Anthony Davis five-year deal that could approach $140M - corndeaux
Yeah. I really don't think it is. Basically, people either don't understand that his max extension will kick in 16/17 (the year the cap explodes) or they are anticipating the cap jumping from $89M to $108 in 2017- which may very well happen. If it's the former, they are just misinformed. If it's ...

re: Would you trade Anthony Davis for Curry? - corndeaux
I agree completely. He's already flashing more moves than last season and is largely unguardable at 22. With more refinement/experience, the sky is the limit. But he's still reliant on guys getting him the ball, which I think was the point about perimeter v post....

re: Question regarding AD's contract - corndeaux
idiots
The tweets in the other thread are not from Stein, just randoms replying to him. To answer the question; no they are mistaken. His extension will be signed this summer and kick in 16/17 like Kyrie's max will kick in next season....

re: Would you trade Anthony Davis for Curry? - corndeaux
He is more perimeter than post. Again, he isn't a post up player like the bigs of old. But he's a catch and shoot perimeter player with a limited, for now at least, dribble game. He's similar to Anderson. That's very different from a primary/secondary ball handler. ...

re: Would you trade Anthony Davis for Curry? - corndeaux
While clearly a troll OP, darryljames and nostradamus make interesting points about the "big over small" truism. The game is different now- much more of a perimeter game. Who is making the decisions down the stretch for the Pelicans? The guy with the ball. Whom do many complain about? The guy wi...

They've done better than I expected this series. Tonight, they just don't have the energy. But overall, yes. The scheme needs reworking and they need some some better defenders....

re: Doug Collins "Asik can't be such a negative" - corndeaux
I think he's injured/nursing an injury. Plus he's closing in on 30. He's a good, albeit limited, player, but just doesn't fit in this series. Someone tweeted it the other night- the Pelicans would benefit the most from being able to combine two players into one with Asik and Anderson....

Pels look like they're about ready to call it a season. Everything they're getting on offense has been hard. And the defense is lazy. Need a big play to wake everyone up....

re: Great Perspective from Paul Flannery - corndeaux
If and when we make a coaching move, it has to be THE hire, imo. No stop gap hires nor any crazy gambles. If the right candidate isn't available, stand pat for now
That's a good point.
ATL

I think 42 put the right spin on it, something along those lines...
