Sources say Pelicans conducting second interview with Alvin Gentry in New Orleans, story coming shortly
This 60 year old retread is going to end up falling into coaching Anthony Davis

Thanks Steve Nash, Chris Paul and Steph Curry!

People should be knocking down Monty's door. He coached AD.

I mean people can hate it but I think hes a good fit. Theres no question whos the better coach out of JVG and Gentry but he will have us playing a motion offense and and fast paced.

It was already known he was getting a 2nd interview. I think I remember seeing after the playoffs, but I guess this break will do. And IIRC the 2nd interview mention came out before all the JVG stuff. Basically he made the short list after the first interview. Hopefully we'll here about a JVG 2nd interview soon.

Gentry was looking for assistants. I'm sure both he and JVG will present their potential staffs which will influence who gets the job.

Dell needs to be shown the door. What in the hell has he done?

If Gentry is hired, consider this coaching hire bungled.

What if it's Gentry plus a strong defensive assistant like Malone? I still like JVG better because Malone is out the door ASAP, but Gentry running the offense and Malone or similar running the defense would still be a big upgrade over Monty. Not to mention you would have the GM and coach on the same page with the roster, one of the problems with Monty.

Dell is looking for someone who will kiss his arse and be forever grateful he got another chance to add to his stellar record.

With a little luck, AD might play well enough to give him his 2nd winning season! I just hope it doesn't take 4 or 5 years to achieve that lofty goal.

Yea, Gentry is literally one of the best offensive minds in the league right now. Pair him with a good defensive assistant and thats a huge step up from Monty

One question:

Why didn't Gentry figure that formula out in his previous 12 seasons as HC?

Hire Gentry and watch the losing records come in like sumo wrestlers at an All You Can Eat sushi bar.

I don't think that's really in play. It's more that Demps knows he'll retain control with gentry on board...even if that only last 1 or 2 seasons before they're both shown the door.

If Loomis has an once of sense, he better step in and prevent this dog and pony show.

Gentry's 09-10 Suns had a ORtg of 115.3, 4th highest in league history and the highest of Steve Nash's career.

Great article on Gentry: LINK

He's going to Chicago now, but looks like Hoiberg was up for grabs. Wonder if we talked to him. But whatever.

If we had an MVP level PG I'd feel a little better about him, but we don't, so give me JVG.
