you add brandon ingram to this team and they're not that bad. If embiid is back and healthy they could deal him or noel and get a solid young SG.

pg - ish smith/isaiah canaan
sg -
sf- brandon ingram/robert covington
pf - jahlil okafor/dario saric
c- nerlens noel/embiid

Thats 6-7 solid assets any team would love

They could even pay up and get bradley beal or someone this offseason as a FA

Man if you knew what his plan was, you either don't hire him in the first place or you stick it out the whole way

yeah well it's getting kind of old

shipping off MCW and admitting that wasn't a great pick sucked a lot of the steam out of the room

okafor and his defensive issues and inability to play with noel was bad

even if they did have faith in his overarching philosophy, he simply hasn't proven he's good enough to pull it off

yeah, it's become the en vogue thing to think the only way to build a team is to tank for a few years but if we're being honest, none of the draft picks have really worked out amazingly yet. Like, they haven't gotten a Kevin Durant, which everyone says to look at how the Thunder built. They haven't gotten a Westbrook either.

Maybe Saric and Embiid will be great but we're still a few years from finding that out

I agree I don't think he was any good, but at this point thwy were basically awful for nothing over the last three years. Pretty sure the new guy that gets hired isn't going to take the same approach

He's built a team around a bunch of young big guys with NOBODY to get them the ball. You'd think a guy as smart as him would invest in an nba-level point guard to get the ball to guys like Noel, Okafor, Embiid and Saric eventually.

Philly had Ish Smith on the roster last year and he seemed to have some chemistry with Noel, then they dumped him. Noel's numbers tanked to start the year and they were forced to give up picks to get him back.

If I had to guess, the deal for Ish was a Colangelo move and one of the straws that eventually broke Hinkie

Did the owner not realize what Hinkie was trying to do? I'm confused. How did the owner not realize what was happening?

Why would he want an NBA level point guard now when the plan was to lose games and get another top pick?

Well, if I'm trying to develop big men, I want someone who's at least competent to get them the ball in advantageous situations.

having okafor and/or noel lose value b/c they couldn't play together was a better option? a point may have salvaged their value

Okafor has been more than fine offensively and everyone knew Noel wasn't an offensive threat so not sure where a PG would have made a real difference in those guys value.

I wonder if they'll give him credit when they are a perennial playoff team in the near future.

Terrible. He only needed 10-15 more years then they would've seen some bigtime results.

This.

And by "nba-level" or competent, I don't even mean a guy who necessarily changes your w/l record. Just a guy who's next job won't be in China. There are guys who can run an nba offense without affecting their tank...like Ish Smith

If they're not significantly better than they were before he burned the house down then he doesn't deserve much.

Do me a favor and post the splits for okafor and Noel w and w/out smith. TJ McConnell whose minutes smith took averages more assists per 36 than smith does.
