What part do you disagree with? What trades/moves has he lost? If they are a playoff team season after next doesn't that fall in line with the plan he laid out from jump street? This is a classic case of nepotism.

On pod, I asked Hinkie re rumors PHI was thinking about hiring another powerful voice -- and whether he'd feel too marginalized to stay.

I had heard that was possible ownership play: they liked Sam, wanted another voice at his level, and wanted him to stay.

There was always the possibility both sides understood such an arrangement wouldn't hold. That's why I asked about it.

Another voice = Brian Colangelo

"Steps Down"

This was always the most likely outcome, despite what their ownership and Hinkie zombies insisted.

Its 2016. I don't care what they say, nobody's patient enough for a 5+ year rebuild.

You're assuming a lot for them to make the jump. Embiid has to be healthy, Saric has to be good, they have to get something of value from either Noel or Okafor, and then they'd have to hit on this year's pick as well.

Sixers ownership had been touting that Hinkie would have another top basketball executive with a comparable title. That was a tough sell.

I could see them winning 30+ games next year if saric is as advertised and Embiid is healthy (last I heard he has looked like a beast in practice.

He did what you unfortunately have to do. When you suck arse, hitting on one draft doesn't get it done. You need to draft well for several years. The only teams that have gone from shite to great quickly are ridiculous outliers.
The idea that you have to be awful and hit rock bottom to get better isn't exactly true.

Someone did a study a few years ago showing that most teams who turn into perennial contenders weren't awful forever. They were actually mediocre, and through smart personnel decisions, trades, free agent signings(big f/agents aren't going to awful teams) they got from mediocre to contenders. OKC is a huge outlier.

Yeah this tank could blow up in their face. They have already drug the 76ers image through the mud. If they aren't competing for a title in 2-3 years, this tank will be a massive failure.

Rookies, no matter how good they are, usually don't effect w/l records in the nba. Especially when they're paired with a bunch of other young guys.

Still a lot of ifs. Big guys with foot problems are gigantic risks. Saric is supposed to be good but still another guy who hasn't played in the NBA. Then if Embiid is good, are they going to get anything of good value for Noel or Okafor? And if they miss on Simmons and Ingram, what do they do in this draft?

Tanking seems like it would be the surest fire way to get the best players but you're playing roulette out there and if you go as deep into as Hinkie has for these almost 3 years, then it has to 100% pay off or your reputation is shot.

Twolves are doing it this year. Their record isn't great and it's a shitload better than last year.

If the TWolves make a good coaching hire, they're going to be a hell of a lot of fun.

Doing what, exactly? They're better but still awful, with two franchise cornerstones. They've improved by 10 games, which is solid and a more reasonable expectation for Philly than going from 10 wins to 30+

Sources: Sixers have been discussing two possible candidates to share "partnership" with Hinkie: Bryan Colangelo and Danny Ferry.

Let's assume PHI is a contender soon. Hinkie won't get any credit for it. That's IF they're a contender. More realistically they'll be a 4-8 seed in the next 3-5 years which they could have done without tanking so hard.
