That's from people like Gerry Spence who worked years with cops as a prosecutor and then defended Americans against them. If he's terrified, we all should be.

This website seems to hate cops, so you're preaching to the choir here.

However, I do think the message has been over shadowed by the protest itself. It is so divisive it hurts the message beneath it, IMO.

Colin Kaepernick is the modern-day Nat Turner.

The anthem is showing respect for all the sacrifices made to keep our country free. Disrespecting the anthem gives the impression that you do not appreciate those sacrifices.

Besides, what are they really protesting? Is it police actions? Is it that blacks are arrested for committing crimes at higher rate than other? I'm not really sure what they want?

They don't really know. They just think they look cool.

Other athletes have focused on specific grievances (Brownie, Eric Garner, etc.) You can agree or disagree, but at least they had an actual message other than a symbolic middle finger.

Plus Kaep can't be opposed to government brutality against black people, because he supports Che Guevara, a perpetrator of exactly what he claims to be protesting.

Bunch of followers. Instead of doing something that is questionable at best, how about putting forth a proposal on how we can improve the cause that you are standing up for?

Like giving away a million dollars?

He's mad because he doesn't think minorities are treated fairly, and you jackasses are telling him to get out of my damn country, you stupid so and so.

You people really are that dense.

The more you idiots make this YOUR case, the more you prove his point, and the more reasonable move to his side. This ain't about you, so chill the hell out.

Only good thing this will hopefully bring is a scathing South Park episode

I understand that Kaepernick has pledged to donate money, but what about the other guys who will inevitably do this after him?

People feel very strongly about the flag and the anthem, some losing loved ones, so they do think it is about them. It's why I wish he had chosen another method of protest. The narrative seems to be Kaep vs the flag/country rather than cops.

In a way, continuing to wear the silly pig socks may have been a better protest.

Pro athletes will get away with it first. It will hit a fever pitch once NBA starts next month.

Pretty sure the NBA already has a rule that says you have to stand for the anthem.

Even more reason for the players to defy it. They will think breaking a rule will further advance their cause and garner them more attention.

They are fined every time they don't stand and it increases every time you violate the rule. One thing these guys love more than phantom grievences is the money this terrible, horrendous, oppressive place provides them.

Not surprised. Remember the Starbucks "Race Together" bullshite? Well you know where they are headquartered... It's a shame b/c Seattle would seem like a cool place without all the phony SJW's.

It'd be a real oxymoron if a Patriots player did this. How long before someone calls for the Patriots to change their name because it's racist? Or the Saints because Christians are bigots? But name a team the Jihadis and the SJWs would say we need to be tolerant of their beliefs.

I'm okay with Colin taking a knee during the anthem. Sitting was disrespectful. Taking a knee and looking down is not.
