Id be surprised if they actually take things away from the past. Don't see the logic in that tbh.
They vacated wins from USC in the Reggie Bush case, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the "crime" committed in that situation was much less severe than what Penn State.

believe he also said that Penn State should not be allowed to play football, correct?

another thought that just came to mind....
could you see the shite that any penn state player who transfers would get in the locker room about going to butt frick state????
in some ways these guys are as fricked in the arse as the boys that sandusky abused....

I bet the NCAA knows things the public does not.
They may very well kick them out of the NCAA.

They will be allowed to play next year IF they change their name to Peen State

That's not the point. The people who did wrong, along with the people that covered it up are being pursued, and will be and should be punished.
The point is that if people currently involved in Penn State football had nothing to do with wrong doing (staff, players, fans) then they should not be punished.
That's it in a nutshell. Either you get it or you don't. Punishment should be limited to those who did wrong, not meted out to people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Well, sorry to burst their bubble...their culture is a pea in the same pod.
Once again, it really doesn't matter unless the culture is being used to facilitate illegal activity.
Oh really, then why does Bama fan assert that the entire culture at PSU needs to be punished...because the culture facilitates...facilitating criminal activity. He said punish and burn the entire culture.
Did the entire culture/community/fans facilitate illegal activity?

Yea, but USC was technically cheating in those games by using an ineligible player. I guess you could argue that due to the illegal activity of penn state, they had coaches coaching who should have not been allowed at that university.
Not sure where you would decide on a date though.

No an FBI report...a privately commissioned report.
A report privately commissioned BY PENN STATE.
That last part is key. Freeh was paid by Penn State and came out with an honest assessment of what happened.

So if the priest in my parish molested a kid 30 years ago, they need to burn down my church?

I feel like we could go around in circles saying the same thing over and over, and you would just never get it.

Are you suggesting that the University didn't do anything wrong? Were those individuals not acting on behalf of the University? Were they not representing the University in their roles?
Who gave Reggie Bush improper benefits during his time at USC? According to your argument, that man should be the one to be punished and not the school....not the players at the school who had nothing to do with it or the football team.

If the bishops knew about it and didnt say anything, they should definitely all be punished severely. If there was a serious issue with many boys being molested at the church and tons of people knowing, yea, they should probably just close down that church.
Not really a great analogy because the bishops would be covering it up for the sake of the church but a church and a major football program are apples and oranges.

Said that Death Penalty should be a MUST.
Felt bad for the town, current coaches and players.
Said coaches should still be paid and players transfer with no issues and give them an extra year of eligibility, at very end he said fact of the matter is they covered up CHILD MOLESTATION.

Since some people like to post only negative posts from the PSU boards:
" Hope all you 'Holier-than-thou' people are happy ...
...this is what decades of thumbing your noses at and ridiculing every little misstep of the rest of the college football world has gotten us. People have been eagerly awaiting the day when they would get to tear us and the image we have portrayed down and stomp on it. That day has come.
It's ridiculous to believe that many of us can't see that Joe is culpable on some level in this fiasco.
Others might and probably are more guilty than he is, but HE had the power to bring it into the open with one phone call.
You can argue that he naively put too much faith in the administration of the University or whatever, but the bottom line TO ME is that at some point, for reasons known only to him and now God, he washed his hands of the whole situation.
The "St. Joe" image evaporated the minute he decided or was convinced to stay silent. A lifetime of good deeds and service swept away by one incredibly bad lapse in judgment. Sad.
A sad day that now tarnishes more than 50 years of memories.
I'm not going to speculate on what these alleged sanctions might be, but I can't wait to her the whining about how they were "undeserved."
For those who still argue and believe the "football program" did no wrong, well, you go right ahead and keep believing that.
The rest of us rational people know better.
My Penn State degree hanging on my wall still means something to me. It's just every time I look at it now, it's also a reminder that, as the slaves used to whisper to the Roman generals returning from that conquests that "all glory is fleeting."
