Yes, absolutely. I dispute it.

If the most powerful people knew and actively covered it up, think how many less powerful people had to have known and simply did nothing.

You said culture...statue - god - culture of worship - power. Saban.

Even at SEC media days everyone was asking..."dude, your situation at Bama is a little creepy god-like."

This whole situation - ALL OF IT! Is about too much power in one person. Someone who can't do anything wrong in the eyes of the fawning fanbase...YOU!

The culture isn't a problem until it is used to facilitate criminal activity.

If my boss was a child molester, do I and my fellow employees deserve to lose our jobs and livelihoods because of it.

This punishes the fans and players. Some Penn State fans are delusional pricks, but it's still wrong.

OK then, we'll agree on this point: If people at Penn State actively covered up harm done to children, those people need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Yes?

The culture encourages protecting the football brand.

But I'm sure Bama has never had their football culture ever get them in trouble.

I find it funny that the one fanbase that is closest to the PSU culture thinks they are above ever going down this road.

Could they possibly kick Penn State out of the NCAA??

On their website the NCAA says this:

quote:

The Association – through its member institutions, conferences and national office staff – shares a belief in and commitment to:

• The collegiate model of athletics in which students participate as an avocation, balancing their academic, social and athletics experiences.

• The highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship.

• The pursuit of excellence in both academics and athletics.

• The supporting role that intercollegiate athletics plays in the higher education mission and in enhancing the sense of community and strengthening the identity of member institutions.

• An inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds.

• Respect for institutional autonomy and philosophical differences.

• Presidential leadership of intercollegiate athletics at the campus, conference and national levels.

Certainly as a member institution it can be argued Penn State failed on a couple of these points.

Interesting this will be if this is confined to the football program or to the entire athletic program.

If its not the Death Penalty, what could be worse?

It was not just Joe Paterno or the coach staff that covered this, it was the whole fricking University. It is sad that innocent people will suffer, but if the NCAA does nothing because the people are no longer there then what kind of message is that sending? If this were just football violations, I would not be for the death penalty, this is on another level and that shite needs to be shut down, and let the kids transfer without penalty.

Upper level Penn State admin knew this was going on and attempted to cover it up. I would agree, if the rapes were off-campus had nothing to with Penn State. However, it was sanctioned rape on campus, in the football complex, and on football travel trips.

That's a good penalty, IMO, because it limits the ancillary damage while still imposing a severe punishment.

Loving a coach =/= harboring a pedophile.

Quit saying I would condone, make excuses for, or allow this to happen at Bama or anywhere else. I wouldn't. Go frick yourself. I'm done with you.

Zamaro attacking Bama in this instance is ridiculous...I truly believe bammers are a delusional group but I'm confident they wouldn't fall this low.

Disagree. A message needs to be sent to the entire Athletic Department that any cover up will not be tolerated. This is a good way to do that. Either completely clean out the Athletic Department, or give them severe penalties. Either way, you still don't know how many people are connected and knew and didn't say anything.

This culture needs to learn that CHILD MOLESTING is serious.

Absolutely. If multiple people saw children being raped in your office and at other company functions, said nothing, and tried to cover it up, then I hope that company would face sanctions.
