Are you suggesting that the University didn't do anything wrong? Were those individuals not acting on behalf of the University? Were they not representing the University in their roles?
The University did not make conscious decisions to do wrong. Nor did the football program. Individuals, people, made those decisions and should be punished. The people need to be punished. The institution does not.

So if the priest in my parish molested a kid 30 years ago, they need to burn down my church?
If your church and the heads of your church knew about it, and not only did they do nothing about it, but they made a conscious effort to cover it up and in the process allowing countless other children to be molested?

The NCAA is a joke. Emmert is a pompous arse, and should leave any punitive measures to the legal system. WTF do the people currently at Penn State as opposed to the real "guilty parties" need to suffer any sort of indignity for? It's tantamount to punishing children for the sins of the father. Stupid. The sooner the NCAA dies in a fire, the better.
I continue to die laughing at the Butthurt out of Southern Cal. Bush was paid. Mayo was paid. That the NCAA found out and handed out sanctions is proper. Charles Robinson gave the NCAA the roadmap. What is the problem?

we all know there are some reasonable Penn State fans but yall seem to be in the minority right now. It doesn't help that every person espn interviews from happy valley is mad about the statue being taken down

Just like this PSU scandal...it's important to get facts straight.

This is very important to note when we read unprecedented and think about negatives. It may not necessarily be unprecedented severe penalties.

What is unprecedented is the process through which PSU punishment handed out, not necessarily the penalties

The report shows numerous University officials knew what was going on and yet they continued to let that sick frick have a key.
If this was Tennessee that did this I would want the same thing.
They covered up CHILD MOLESTATION.

Me either but you're a dumb arse.

You said culture...statue - god - culture of worship - power. Saban.
News flash: nobody's worshipping anybody.

This whole situation - ALL OF IT! Is about too much power in one person. Someone who can't do anything wrong in the eyes of the fawning fanbase...YOU!
Like Duke and Krzyzewski? UNC and Williams? Patriots and Belichick? Bowden and FSU? Bear and Alabama? You posted that drivel in a thread about a coach and others covering up child molestation. So I take it you think all of the above would cover up child molestation?

Who gave Reggie Bush improper benefits during his time at USC?
quote:That would have been great. Except that he was not subject to NCAA regulations. Reggie Bush has basically been disassociated with USC though, so that is a fitting punishment.
According to your argument, that man should be the one to be punished and not the school
quote:
....not the players at the school who had nothing to do with it or the football team
Nope. Mike Garrett was the AD who basically thumbed his nose at the NCAA. He paid for it with his job. In no way, shape or form should the current players/coaches/fans at USC be made to suffer for it.

What does it say about the members who continue to contribute knowing the church leaders still have not come clean on many pedophile cases and in fact facilitated the removal of Cardinal Law from the jurisdiction of investigators of 1500 pedophile cases and today continue to diplomatically shelter him??
Who has handle their crisis better as an institution--the Church or Penn State?

The USC fans are really ruining this thread
We are having conversations about Reggie Bush?
eta: I apologize if they are not the ones that brought it up

The individuals and people that you are talking about represented the University in the largest capacity possible.
You can't be this naive.

You're still not getting it. There's nothing similar between Duke University...emphasis on University...and Alabama football greater community.

some shitty logic in here by the USCw posters , stop trying to compare your situation with Penn State they are no way the same.

No death penalty, but revoke of all wins and championships since Sandusky was at penn state, percentage of all profits to go to child abuse charities, post season ban for 5 years, and loss of 3-5 scholarships a year for 5 years.

I'm not naive at all. It's just logic. You want to punish people who did no wrong just because bad people at the school did wrong.
It's stupid.
