St. Aug will continue to have lower enrollment over the next few years with the rise of a bunch of schools in Orleans parish, plus the public school teams in Orleans have really stepped it up the past few years.

Crazy that some teams in 5A have nearly double the enrollment as other teams. Shaw is definitely in trouble. No wonder there have been so many Shaw ads recently. Is every boy at Rummel a good athlete?

Carencro down
South Lafourche down
Woodlawn - BR down
Westgate down
Landry - Walker up
Loranger up

Also, rumor was Independece was dropping and Doyle was going up. Doesnt seem that was true.

Thats all i notice first glance

With flood insurance rising a bunch of folks are moving further and further up the bayou.

** Maybe off the bayou completely, it looks like Thibodaux's numbers are down 200-300 also.

some of the bayou schools have a lot of home school kids... South Lafourche has 21. Morgan City has 11. (Chalmette has 8, the most among 5A schools.)

i'm guessing those are the kids who live in camps so isolated they can only leave by boat...

2013 state runner up and 2014 state champion Livonia is moving up to 4a due to the closing of PC-Cental.

St. James up to 3A.

I also think you'll see Country Day and Calvary bumped up to 2A. They currently both have the most in 1a.

Yeah.. from what I hear, they have really struggled with enrollment lately. I wonder why that is?

Because if you are going to pay for an education, you want to go to a school where you are going to get one.

Rummel is the best public school you pay to go to.

Yeah its funny nobody closes pubic school in reclass years only when they can get a year or two of merged numbers in a smaller class

Oh nothing. Just noticed that they moved up to 3a last year and suddenly want to run back down to the less populated schools after not winning a state title, much like how they ran back down to 2a after Salmen punched them in the mouth in the 90s.

No they were 4a until three principals created play in class rules in 2004 and forced them back to 2a.once play up in some form was restored they did so

Jj as for the multiplier

It may not be. A 1.5. But whatever it is it will be crafted as to leave the fewest schools possible bitching about Curtis

Also calavry down to 1a may kill any chance of a multiplier being applied anyway as one pretty vocal prinicpal doesn't want Calvary or evangel in his class

Livonia on the come up. Jeez, I remember back in the day when they were a little 1a-2a school that no one in the world knew about.

But think about it, it being the only public school in the parish and Pointe Coupee parish is a pretty large parish to cover.

The pool of potential students for the catholic league has been hit hard, but it only manifests itself at the schools not named Jesuit or BM. Those two schools will always have enough kids applying to take who they need to fill the school and still turn kids aways.
Brother Martin has less than 1000 kids and a graduating class less than 200. That is about 90 kids less than 12 years when I graduated.
I think people are having a hard time paying almost 10k in tuition.

Correct and

The Jesuit reject and bm reject list is significantly smaller than it was years ago.

Population decrease in metro no area combined with excellent fully functioning magnets AND nationwide private school especially catholic schoo
Numbers have been dropping at a pretty dramatic rate

Interesting that there is no "magic number" for the cut off between classes.. only a set number of teams. I guess it prevents schools from manipulating their numbers for athletic purposes, to an extent.

ETA: Is that how it has always worked? Forgive my ignorance.

Not since integration and probably not before that too...

Yeah, my point earlier was that their rank on the totem pole allowed them to lose far less in enrollment numbers than other schools. The hierarchy of the Catholic League for students is:

1) Jesuit
2) Brother Martin
3) Shaw, Rummel, HC
4) St. Aug

Shaw, Rummel, and St. Aug are scrounging for kids and I think St. Aug is in serious decline. Shaw has stabilized and from what I hear they are now okay with being 4A and won't play up even in there is an option. Rummel is getting tons of westbank kids, so the pendulum could swing back to Shaw if those kids decide to stay home.

This is why enrollment is down at Rummel. They have this horrendous perception from people who really have no fricking clue.

Jesuit is Jesuit. Somehow Brother Martin gets lumped in with them, which is absurd.

Rummel is just fine academically.
