Maybe add St. Pauls to the Catholic League

I actually like this idea. Seems like a good fit and the southshore isn't that much further of a drive than St Paul's to slidell, Hammond, pontchatoula. Would St. Paul's want to join the Catholic League though?

Episcopal is about 30 kids away from moving up to 3A. If there is any multiplier, they move up.

If that happens, they go from being decent in 2A to getting arse raped by U High, Parkview, etc., in district.

Parkview and Uhigh would be getting the multiplier too, right?

I think they would consider it if they do anyway with the non-select and select playoffs. If shaw drops to 4A they would be a perfect replacement. They would go from a district with 8 teams to a district with 6 teams and could play 5 non district games to boost their power rankings instead of just 3.

Remember St. Aug is 4A now as well, and I don't see anything that leads me to believe they would go 5A again. They are dropping numbers, plus with a new football coach 4A is their best placement.

A guy on sportsline showed what the multiplier would look like with a 6A division:

Let me rephrase, they sold out to football and to a lesser extent baseball. One side you are letting kids in that probably would not attend if not for athletics. On the other side, Parents are paying big bucks to send their kids to catholic school and they get frustrated when their kid gets beaten out by someone on a reduced tuition/work study plan.

Basically Rummel is turning into Curtis light.

i know people will bring up travel distance, but do you think St. Paul's and Catholic (BR) could join the Catholic League if St. Aug and Shaw drop out?

i personally think nothing will change, even if Shaw and St. Aug need to be competitive for their schools' sake and drop down, they'll stay up for tradition's sake

Shaw dropping down is more than just conjecture, it is the plan if nothing changes. Tradition goes by the way side when you have a high school enrollment of 395.

I was also going to suggest Catholic but I dont see St. Aug dropping down because of the tradition but Shaw most recent success has been in 4A. I think a 6 team district is a perfect number.

i wonder what the public schools on the Northshore would think about losing St. Paul's... if that happens I hope Chalmette joins that district

Another thing I never understood is why boys and girls are counted together for class purposes. They don't affect each other in the least.

Original thoughts were that Lakeshore would join 6-5A and St Pauls would go to Catholic league. Id prefer that every sport.

it also helps to wonder who would play up... Helen Cox did in our district the past two years and got squashed in football

i'm sure some random team will though. maybe South Lafourche? Carencro?

Yet we put out National Merit Scholars every year on par with Jesuit? So what does that tell you? That the dumb dumb parents are caught up in eye candy. HC is still a shitty academic school with Archdiocese backing. It's like a Ferrari with a smart car engine. Shaw and Rummel ha! Now BM produces good students and actually teaches. Don't you think if the money was there the campus would be updated?
