re: I wish people who say "I don't like NBA, but I like college" would say what they mean

the few times I do watch a NBA game in the 4th quarter the crowd is usually dead silent, even in close games.

The NBA season is 4 times longer than college. Don't give me that nonsense
No shite. But teams weren't sitting out stars years ago when the game was much more physical.

Yea, Golden State has looked unbeatable lately
That may be true, perhaps 1-2 other teams will challenge them. Still doesn't change my opinion that the regular season is mostly uninteresting.

I wish the nba would allow them to jump directly from hs, but require 3 years if they enroll in college. Similar to baseball. It may not be good employment policy, but it would really improve cbb, imo.
Agree. I don't want to restrict people's freedom of choice or employment (even if that choice is a bad one). But the baseball model is a good compromise.

With 1 and dones + lack of talented bits + homologous spread pick and roll offense. Basketball as a whole(college and pro) is trash right now

Wut? I love college basketball and not just MM.
I haven't watched 1 minute of the NBA total over the last 2 years and cannot stand it.

The NBA is unwatchable.

It means people don't like the bland, stale, corporate, no atmosphere that is professional sports. There's more heart. Players care more.
College sports may be a worse product but there's something special about schools and states going against each other. It's much more exciting than cities and basically companies playing each other.

That's a fricking crock. Watch Westbrook, Ginobili, Curry, James, et al play even a typical game by their standards and tell me the passion isn't there.
You can't.

Yeah, nothing says passion and atmosphere like an LSU-Auburn SEC throw down!
Posted on 3/17/17 at 4:42 pm to GreatLakesTiger24
It means the NBA is too black for them.
Nobody with half a brain can say CBB is a better product than the NBA. The difference in quality is damn near college baseball vs. MLB.

NBA has better basketball than college, I'll admit that.
But I also prefer watching college basketball. I just like the college atmosphere and different styles of play. Watching NSU have a run in 2006 was one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had in sports. Hard to recreate that type of hometown passion in pro sports.
The Cinderella aspect you have in college ball with smaller schools puts it over the NBA for me. Just a personal preference.

No shite. Some college games have a good atmosphere, but the majority are terrible.

Either that or they're just really old. This goes back several years, but I was watching the Daytona 500 at my parents house. They had some friends over and this old geezer starts talking about how it was "back in my day" and how they raced on the beach. Then he said what they do now isn't real racing. He goes on to say he doesn't care for the NBA either because "It's all just pushin and shovin'. No talent." I just had to bite my tongue because I knew he was going to keep spewing his opinions no matter what I said.

It's pretty easy to recreate/top, actually. And I don't say that to shite on college sports--like I said I have a ton invested in my college teams.
But I was in San Antonio when the Spurs won their first title in '99. Then after the revenge tour in 2014 to take their title back from Miami. Hometown passion was (and is) off. the. charts. The city goes all in for the playoffs. Think there wasn't hometown passion in Cleveland last year? How about the Bay Area when the Warriors won for the first time in forever. OKC's atmosphere is ridiculous. Nobody wants a piece of the Grindhouse in Memphis when the Grizz are bearing down. And so on.
That same hometown passion is alive and well in the NBA, no question about it.

Way more white players in CBB than in the NBA.
