I wish people who say "I don't like NBA, but I like college" would say what they mean

why can't people admit to not liking basketball? it's not a big deal.

I know exactly zero people who say that.

Most basketball fans I run into like the NBA, not college BB. March Madness notwithstanding. That's a novelty to watch, not just for basketball.

It's mostly older white people.

They don't like the prima donnas in the NBA.

I like my favorite team in college and the college tournaments. I like the few good teams in the nba and the playoffs. Other games on either level are a tough watch on tv.

I know a lot who say it. It's annoying, but the NBA is still recovering a lot of fans it lost during the really bad play of around 10-15 years ago

Fair enough.

To be fair, I do live in an NBA dominated city, and my college team is arse in the sport usually, so my perspective might be skewed.

I like college sports in general better than professional sports due to my affiliation with a university that competes at a high level.

Pro sports don't do much for me, even more so the older i get. I haven't watch a regular season NBA game in years.

this, but they won't even say that. they say "oh there is just no defense in the nba" or "there is no 'team ball' in the nba, it's just a bunch of superstars jacking up shots".

I think it's weird in general when people say they prefer college sports to pro sports but that's just me

Yeah, it's pretty common. We have this discussion all the time during NFL season.

It's never crossed my mind that if you like college FB but not NFL, then you don't like football. That's stupid.

I honestly don't like the NBA. I hardly like the NFL anymore.

I just happen to love college sports.

Why can't people legitimately like a college sport and not a professional sport? Maybe they prefer the amateurism versus professionalism when it comes to sports? Maybe they need a rooting interest to like a particular sport and they don't have an NBA team whereas they do have a college team?

If someone says they "Don't like NFL, but I like college football" does that really mean "I don't like football"? Just wondering if this applies to all sports where there are professional and amateur leagues.

It's common in the South and Midwest. But not so much on the west coast and up in the north east

It wasn't just the play. The NBA had an image problem. That's why David Stern implemented a dress code.

The image of the NBA had become too thuggish, and it was turning a lot of people off.

i think it's a lot more understandable for football.

despite bad QB play (which is a problem for most NFL teams) p5 football is still a good product, and most people have a lot more emotionally invested in it. college basketball is just BAD. it's so much worse than the NBA.

I wouldn't put too much thought into it. You are correct. OP is an idiot.

Personally, I just like good football and basketball. College or pro. I have more invested personally in the college side typically, but if the sport is being played well, I'll enjoy it whether they're amateurs or pros. College bball is usually less aesthetically pleasing to me across the board, but I do enjoy watching the elite programs do their thing.
