re: The NHL Playoffs: The Quest for Lord Stanley's Cup. - Mizzeaux
Ducks are killing the dot, have good blue line play, and are eating as much real estate in front of the crease as they'd like. ETA: Turns out it's 22/22 on faceoffs. I would have figured they were getting at least 70% of them. My fault....

re: The NHL Playoffs: The Quest for Lord Stanley's Cup. - Mizzeaux
Hawks Power Play looks like shit, Q had the blender set on liquefy, and for the first time in recent memory the Hawks don't look like the best team on the ice in a playoff series. Hopefully they can pull it out....

re: What causes these "comet" marks on the road? - Mizzeaux
I've never seen a road poured with rebar in it. They've got to be marks from little meteorites hitting the road. Search the areas surrounding the marks and see if you can find the space junk. They might sell on ebay....

re: Spinoff: How much does it cost to live a middle class life? - Mizzeaux
Tryna figure if this is a passive brag.
Got to be, falsified too. "I live such a great life I don't even have enough money to save for my future even though I make a quarter million a year." If he was doing it right, he'd be like me. I make a ton of money, live well and ...

re: Spinoff: How much does it cost to live a middle class life? - Mizzeaux
Thank you. This whole thread begs the question of "what is middle class?". I do not live lavishly. I drive a 10 year old car. Wife has a new one. We have a nice house, but those are our only major expenses. I made $250k last year and didn't save a dime beyond my 401k.
Dude, what...

re: Walmarts on Long Island,New York, don't have a Deli or meat section,Why? - Mizzeaux
If you think back 15 years before the whole "Super Walmart" thing, no Walmarts had delis or full scale food/grocery sections. Sure, you could pick up some Pop Tarts, but there wasn't a whole grocery side. I'm guessing they haven't gone through the Super Walmart expansion there or don't have the ...

re: The Myth of a Stagnant Middle Class - Mizzeaux
I was including corporate subsidies in the subsidization of millions. I'm against all forms of subsidization and believe that business should be allowed to fail in a free market. People should also not be rewarded by Gov't for being lazy or for poor life decisions.
Pretty much e...

re: The Myth of a Stagnant Middle Class - Mizzeaux
I talked about it in the other thread, but I really want Pacman to win. I think he's got the speed to get around the elusiveness, and is he can land a fair amount of punches can slow Floyd down enough to have a shot. If I was betting my complete upper middle class lifestyle on this one fight, th...

re: We tried to help Baltimore type problems in the 80's. - Mizzeaux
Which may be true. However, there's still an entire nation of people with their own motivations and individual lives involved in every single process or system that's designed that are there making it work. Therein lies the real power. Socrates didn't have nefarious intentions, and those methods ...

re: The Myth of a Stagnant Middle Class - Mizzeaux
To be honest, I don't think anything I said in my post was understood. But that's okay.
Yeah, I typed up a whole post about how it's the government's job to basically subsidize shit, then I went over what I thought it should subsidize and what it shouldn't. Luckily I read tha...
The middle class is shrinking, anyone wo says otherwise is not paying any attention to what is happening.
I don't think the middle class is shrinking, I think it's seeing the money its making being confiscated through taxation and going to the poor and getting pissed off. At the...

re: The Myth of a Stagnant Middle Class - Mizzeaux
I think we're on the same page.
I agree. Saddling someone with 80,000 in student debt for the first 15 years of their working life has got to make it significantly less likely that they'll test the waters of entrepreneurship, which is the real travesty to all of this. Go get...

re: The Myth of a Stagnant Middle Class - Mizzeaux
Middle class decline has nothing to do with the rising cost of education. I'm interested to hear what policies are causing the costs to rise. I would guess subsidies? I think the costs have risen because of the perceived myth that college is a necessity. Everybody must go to colle...

re: The Myth of a Stagnant Middle Class - Mizzeaux
I agree that the growing cost of education is hurting the middle class (that is undeniable), but I think the cause of that is cruddy government policy.
Perhaps. The availability of large levels of credit for college aged kids to use for an education is ridiculous. In many cases...
