Technically it was the 2012 playoffs. It doesn't matter since you're wrong either way

You said going into the 2012 playoffs.

Someone's a little testy, eh?

ETA: Regardless, any way you want to slice it, those Niner teams aren't on the "best team to not win a Super Bowl" list. Maybe your homer list, but no one else's.

In the Thursday kickoff game, which the home team is 12-1 in since the NFL started the tradition of having the defending SB champs host Thursday night kickoff game. Because Mark Ingram got stuffed at the goal line on a late 4th down.

Holy frick you can't be this obtuse

everyone refers to football seasons by the year the regular season is played.

Do you consider the Saints to be 2010 Super Bowl Champions?

I swear to god the quality of poster around here just keeps getting worse and worse.

You upset?

They weren't the win total favorite in any of those seasons.

ETA: The only year they were the favorites throughout the playoffs was the 2012 season. And you want to put them on the all-time list? Not just one team... all three of them.

Kaep and Alex Smith teams will never be on the "best team to never win a SB" list. I'm surprised that this is shocking to you. As a high-quality poster with NFL knowledge, you should know this. Remove your homer glasses and take your blood pressure medicine.

On a side note, how did the 2010 Chargers go 9-7 and miss the playoffs while having the #1 offense AND #1 defense in the entire NFL lulz

They were -6 in turnovers for the season. They had 18 turnovers in their 7 losses. They also had one of the worst special teams units in NFL history. They had four punts blocked that season.

They gave up two kickoff return TDs against Seattle.

In a loss to Oakland, they had a punt blocked out of the end zone for a safety and another punt blocked and returned for a touchdown.

They gave up 7 non offensive touchdowns for the season. That is staggering.

Speaking of San Diego, their 2006 team has to be mentioned here somewhere. They were awesome and were easily the best team in football that year. Martyball did them in.

1976 Steelers

Outscored their opponents something like 250-40 in the last 11 games before their top 2 RBs got injured and they lost to eventual champs Raiders in AFC championship.

Oh and they had NINE HALL OF FAMERS

They had the #5 scoring offense and the #1 scoring defense.

The Raiders team they lost to - was 4th in scoring and 12th in scoring defense.

Steelers did rely on their ground game that year because Bradshaw was out.

But lets face it...Pittsburgh got its arse-whooped (for the 70's) by the Raiders. That #1 defense couldn't stop the Raiders.

Eta: they probably aren't the answer, I dunno, but they deserve a mention.

How the hell is an 11-5 team coming out of a horrid division considered the greatest team to not win a Super Bowl?

No, they don't deserve consideration at all.

Really??

2-1 in playoffs and 5-3 in regular season is arse whooped?

So throw out the 1970 game, as the Steelers were a nothing and the Raiders were coming off a Super Bowl two years prior and one of top 3 teams in AFL.
It is 4-3 and 2-1, definitely not arse whooped.

Now lets discuss SB and AFC championships
In the 70's
4 Pittsburgh
1 Oakland

In the 80's
2 Oakland/LA
0 Pittsburgh

In the 90's
Pittsburgh at least made the Super Bowl

2000's
2 Pittsburgh, with 2 other appearances
0 Oakland, with 1 appearance, with the 2nd most embarrassing thing to happen to a team the week before. Nobody can top Atlanta and Robinson yet.

Reading comprehension buddy.

He said the playoff game they lost 24-7 was an arse whooping for that time period.
