1990 Buffalo Bills

Lol at a 51-3 AFC title game

But Belichick gave Buffalo fans a taste of what was coming.

Great offense, weak defense.

Fair but great was more like best offense of all time

Eta: they probably aren't the answer, I dunno, but they deserve a mention.

2013 Broncos come to mind

ETA: I agree. Worth a mention. They were a fun team to watch. But still lost 5 regular season games. There are more deserving.

As an honorable mention, I'll go with the 1973 Rams, since my dad said they were awesome.

Led the league in offense, 4th in defense and lost 2 games all season by a combined 3 points.

Since playoff hosts were based on an annual rotation between divisions instead of overall record, the Rams had to open the playoffs on the road in Dallas. One and done.

87 and 90 49ers. That squad could have easily won 4 straight.

1990 San Francisco 49ers

Regular Season Record: 14-2
Home: 6-2 … Road: 8-0
Per-Game Point Differential: +7.1
Turnover Margin: +1
Wins Of 10 Points Or More: 6
Losses to sub-.500 teams: 1
Record vs. playoff teams: 4-0

The 1990 Niners were on path to becoming the first club in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls — rolling for 10 straight wins to start the season, going undefeated on the road and riding high from perhaps Joe Montana’s best statistical season of a Hall of Fame career (3,944 yards passing, 26 TDs).

But then in the NFC Championship game, Montana gets injured and goes out of the game...but the Niners still winning 13-12 were running out the clock with 2:36 left in the game and Roger Craig fumbles!

They went 11-5 with a pourous defense and weren't even the top seed in their conference. They belong nowhere near this list

Also lost to 3 non playoff teams in the regular season

1976 Steelers.

That team had 11 Pro Bowlers that year.

The next closest team in the AFC was the Super Bowl champion Raiders with 6.

Minnesota had 9 in the NFC.

Three teams I am going to mention and 1 definitely will get no love on this site

2015 Panthers, 15-1
1968 Colts, at the time considered an all time great
1984 Dolphins, 15-1

Somewhat of a spinoff question...

Would Marty be the greatest NFL coach to not win a championship?

You sure? Thought they only lost to the Niners and the Bears.

Youre right, they beat the Bears in 1985 to end their streak. I got it mixed up. They lost to the Chargers and Rams I believe.
