Pittsburgh got its arse-whooped (for the 70's) by the Raiders.
Tell me where I am missing 24-7? That is what I was replying to.

The discussion was revolving the 1976 Steelers. He said they got arse whooped by the Raiders, and clarified that 24-7 may not be an arse whooping nowadays, but it was back then, in the 70's.
ETA: I mean just read the whole post, context clues should tell you he was not talking about all of the matchups between the two teams throughout the 70s. He was talking about the one playoff game between the two teams in the 1976 season.

Both posts discussing the 1976 Steelers are literally like 2 posts above your meltdown.

Meltdown? What meltdown? Over dramatic much?
If you want to see a meltdown of mine go in to the hockey thread and see me dog cuss CP31 or a NCAA basketball thread about SMU meltdown.

It's that one AFC championship game.
24-7 for football's deadball era was an arse-whooping.
The year before Pittsburgh beat Raiders 16-10 in the AFC championship game.
Then in 1977 Denver beat the Raiders 20-17.
1972 Dolphins over the Steelers in the AFC Championship game 21-17.
Steelers were never in that game despite people thinking 24-7 today isn't that difficult a hill to climb. Teams didn't score in a minute or two, it wasn't basketball on grass.

I know what football was like in the 70's. I am not that young. I just did not look far enough and replied to a certain portion.
Football will most likely get back to that form also, as things run in cycles.

Addition to the 83 Redskins, the two teams that ACTUALLY ADVANCED to the Super Bowl and lost with the strongest case(to me) are the 2001 St. Louis Rams and 1968 Baltimore Colts.
2001 St. Louis Rams
-14-2
-No. 1 offense in the NFL, no. 3 defense
-Per-game point differential: 31-17
-No. 1 passing offense, no. 1 YPA, no. 1 rushing TDs and YPA
-No. 2 in allowing 1st downs, no. 3 in defense against rush
-Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Marshall Faulk, Ricky Proehl, Az Hakim, London Fletcher, Aeneas Williams, Jeff Wilkins and Mike Martz-the pinnacle of the Greatest Show on Turf era
-Almost overcame the biggest deficit in Super Bowl history(at the time) to defeat the Pats
1968 Baltimore Colts
-13-1
-Defeated the Vikings 24-14 and Browns 34-0 in NFL playoffs
-Per-game point differential: 29-10(absurd)
-No. 4 in total offense, no. 2 in total defense
-Permitted only 144 points in 1968-league record at the time
-No. 4 defense against pass, no. 3 against rush, no. 1 against passing TDs and YPA
-Backup QB Earl Morrall won MVP(Unitas was injured all season)
-Also featured Tom Matte, John Mackey, Jimmy Orr, Bill Curry, Mike Curtis, Bubba Smith, Rick Volk and Fred Miller(LSU boy)
-Committed 5 TOs and missed 2 FGs in a very winnable Super Bowl
What is often obfuscated about the 83 Redskins is that team was no. 1 in the NFL at acquiring INTS, no. 1 against rush, no. 1 against rushing TDs, no. 3 in total rushing, and no. 1 in rushing TDs, truly remarkable.
Best team not to reach the Super Bowl ie truly underachieved, probably the 87 49ers
1987 San Francisco 49ers
-13-2
-Per-game point differential: 31-17
-No. 1 total offense, no. 1 total defense
-Led NFL in passing TDs, passing YPA, and rushing
-No. 1 defense against pass, passing TDs, and 1st downs
-Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice(the 22 TD year), John Taylor, Brent Jones, Dwight Clark, Roger Craig, Tom Rathman, Charles Haley, Ronnie Lott, Michael Carter, and Keena Turner

Poor Marty. It's easy to criticize him, but he had some otherworldly shitty luck.
The Drive, Earnest Byner and Marlon McCree fumbling, Lin Elliott and Nate Kaeding missing field goals...that's a cruel collection of incidents regardless of what his coaching philosophy was.

2015 Panthers, without a doubt
15-1
GOAT Dual-Threat QB healthy and in MVP form
Best LB and CB in the league

98 Vikings. I still can't believe that Anderson missed that kick.

In the Thursday kickoff game, which the home team is 12-1 in since the NFL started the tradition of having the defending SB champs host Thursday night kickoff game. Because Mark Ingram got stuffed at the goal line on a late 4th down when everyone in America knew he was getting the ball.

It's been said countless times but 1998 Vikings. How do you blow a 14 point lead at home in the NFCCG? Then Anderson doinked the kick. Unreal how those guys lost.
