If you don't like our coach, just ask Notre Dame how easy it is to find a good one who'll put you back on a championship track.

I don't know if he's the best, but I don't want anyone else.

Think the jury is still out on #1, but certainly needs consideration.
Must admit, I was not a big proponent of the hire, but he became MY coach when he turned down what I truely believe was his "dream " job before the SECC game. He took his personal "big one" for "his" damn strong football team. Cannot put a price on loyalty. His team knows he has their back & show it with performances like Sat. night.
With this caliber of leadership, he doesn't have to be the #1 X&O coach in D-1 to be considered as one of the best

I have never heard Miles throw a player or coach under the bus- can't say the same for some other coaches. Quite frankly, Saban's legend grew when he left. Both Saban and Miles have had great success. However, even with all his faults, Miles was the fastest coach in LSU history to reach 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 wins.

based on what? Other than Saban...who in the west can come close to claiming to be better?
Petrino?
Mullen?
Nutt?
Chizick?..ok he has a NC where he won every game by like 2 pts...

Les = Saban on recruiting and fielding a team that nearly always competes for championships.
Les > Saban on personal character and building incredible team comradery
Les > Saban on gutsy calls during games.
Therefore.... Les IS the best coach in college football today.

ahhh... now you are changing it up... you didn't say that in the OP... if i'm going for an X's and O's guy, a recruiter, a motivator, and someone with a track record, gimme Saban or Stoops...
i love Miles, i really do... he's unique... but if you think he's has a great football intellect, you are mistaken.... not all that long ago, we were all about ready to crucify him for clock management issues... he still is inept to some degree on the offensive side of the ball, and thank god he gives total control to chavis on the defensive side...
recruiter, none better, motivator, great at that, quirky, lovable, uniquely "ours", but not the best in college football... think with your head, not your heart...

we'll find out this year, they're tied up in head to head (LSU vs Bama). Les Miles may take the lead.
i do think nick saban is better.. but Miles is top-5 easy.

I'm with you, Oteece. I think Les is the best all around coach out there.

I agree with this, except game day management: Nick>Les.
But that's about it.

Seriously, who else in college football would you rather have as head coach? I swear Miles still doesn't get the credit he deserves. Even from his own fan base. And No Saban is not any better. frick that dude. He is prone to losing to some real shitty teams.
I almost wanted to puke a year or two ago when some fans actually would have taken that queer Rich Rod over him.. Absolutely disgusting.
Miles has his team as prepared as any coach in the nation, especially in the big game. He is an outstanding football coach, and has his team rise above adversity. He is also as good of a recruiter outside of state as anyone.

he is undoubtedly one of the best when it comes to motivation, character, and recruiting. fortunately these attributes appeal to good assistant coaches who help with his game-management. all in all, it has proven to be a winning formula!

One can argue this to death and no one will ever win the arguement but...............I wouldn't trade our guy for anyone right now and you sure can't argue with his results.

Who in their right mind said Miles is 4th in the SEC west alone?

Saying you have the best coach in CFB is like saying one CEO is definitively better than all others. There is no way to know because different teams need different types of coaches just like different corporations need different types of executives.
I would put Miles top 5 nationally of active coaches, however. Once you get to the top 10 you are splitting hairs, IMO though.

Les Miles is a much better coach for LSU. Les is more committed to LSU than what Nick Saban ever was. Les bleeds Purple and Gold and has passed up his home school twice to stay at LSU. LSU players love playing for Les and LSU! And Les just keeps winning.

Its unbelievable the pedestal some of you put Saban on. He's a great coach, no doubt, one of the best in the country. But he is not without error.
He's lost to some pretty mediocre to bad OOC teams and has been beaten by our "4th best in the west" a couple of times. And it took overtime to beat an 08 team that everyone seems to agree was terrible.
He's not god.
