Ever heard of Nick fricking Saban? Every person on the planet who is not an LSU fan would tell you Saban is a better coach than Les Miles
Satan is a great coach but he isn't better than Miles. Miles out coached his arse last year and won when Alabama had a superior team than LSU.
Players play for Satan because they think he is smart and will make them better and therefore earn them more money in the pros. Miles has players that will follow Les anywhere. Our players don't quit on Miles Sabans player sometimes do.
Long story short Les > Satan.

He might not do it very pretty but Les just wins games, last years record was an amazing feat with what we had under center, dont know if hes the best but definately top 3

Miles has out coached Satan head to head and out recruited him as well.

Go watch the LSU Alabama game last year. You will see Saban players giving up on plays.

I don't think anyone is impressed with him as an x's and o's guy, in-game management skills. However, given time to prepare, he seems to be one of the best motivator, and getting the best out of everyone around him. I don't know him personally, but staff/players must love him, results tell that story. Also helps that recruiting/identifying talent and selling the program, might be his biggest skill.

The one huge thing I see is the players love to play for LES. They give it their all for the guy. This means alot. He does some weird stuff sometimes but the guy knows how to win. Simply put. Recruits very well gameplans very well and is a players coach. I'll take our coach anyday. He's up their with the top in college football I'll tell u that

No. And even if that was the case, you are forgetting about the 2008 season.

Best? No. Best fit? Yes
I love having him as the face of our program. He's had to learn things the hard way.. Some things that he should have known already, but all things considered I wouldn't want another head coach.

people will disagree citing Nick Saban, but many of these folks seem to forget the 3-4 loss years he had.
I would have to give Saban the edge in terms of pure coaching; however, I would rather my boys play for Les....hands down.
In the end, Les and Saban are within a stone's throw of one another but the human factor is a wild swing in Les' favor.

quote:I guarantee that not 1 person who is not an LSU fan thinks this. Take off your purple and gold glasses. Les is a great coach but Saban is the best in the business. Saban has multiple national titles(Les doesn't), multiple SEC titles (Les doesn't), and has put together higher ranked recruiting classes than Les. Saban also restored two different programs into powerhouses. Stop being stupid.
Long story short Les > Satan

What do you think of a guy that lets his assistants know he is headed to miami via email after he has left the state? There are a ton of other reasons I would never want that low life back as our coach but that right there is enough!

So is Joe Pa the only top tier coach that has coached against Les and holds a winning record? I think Les might have a losing record against Mack Brown but Mack is not a top tier coach. Les might not get a chance to even up the score with Joe Pa so looks like Les will be second only to Joe Pa. Not bad for a guy that eats grass.

NO.
How about you tell us what Saban's crotch smells like!

I don't know who the best is or isn't but there is an upper echelon of head coaches and Les has made his way in that category.
Posted on 9/5/11 at 6:25 pm to OTIS2
There is no other Head Coach I'd rather LSU have.

Both are great coaches, not humans. Les is a great guy, Saban a trashy human. From a coaching perspective; To be fair, it is not as easy winning multiple national titles at the same school. Saban is a great builder no doubt but yet to prove he's a maintainer. Les has had to be a maintainer since he arrived at lsu, which to me makes his track record very impressive. I don't give either an edge; they both are great and top 5 coaches, and have weaknesses as well. In terms of recruiting, who gives a crap about winning a recruiting title? As long as lsu remains recruiting top 5 classes they will have talent to work with. Les recruits top 5 classes annually. Gtfo with that.
