Because he clearly isn't satisfied watching our qb throw for 150 and pick up 1st downs with his legs.

what CFB team has won a title throwing for 150/game or less in the BCS era?

and we're not averaging 150/game yet. we're averaging right at 100/game, so your example doesn't exist in reality

quote:

We just did throw for 150

and we are averaging 2/3 of that

i said 150-200/game, which means averaging

quote:

It's not like we aren't calling passing plays.

we're not calling that many and most are sideline routes or deep routes, not the ones we need to work on

quote:

Except yes it is when you're rb is averaging 11 yards per carry and your oline' s pass protection is slightly above average, at best.

unless you plan on averaging that much every game, esp against ole miss and bama, then you're 100% wrong

quote:

Yes as long as our passing is efficient. If Harris can average 120 yards passin,65%completion and pick up 1st downs with his legs,we will be very hard to beat.

that would literally be a HISTORIC season and a complete outlier over the past 15+ years

you think we can win it all by throwing for 1560 yards through the SEC title game?

quote:

and we ran for 207 yards (5.9 yards per carry) against UGA in 2011. Yes our 1st half was bad but the 2nd half we took their manhood.

thanks to special teams plays flipping momentum

The thing to remember is that yardage-wise, the passing game reinforces itself...by that I mean that less time is taken off of the closk, more plays are ran with more yardage by teams using more passing than running.

This also taxes your defense a lot more.

converting more 3rd downs with a good intermediate game to compliment our rushing game means more offensive plays, more TOP, and less strain on our D

like i said earlier today, a smart passing game, esp over the middle and intermediate routes, gives us more opportunities to run. it's not a zero-sum game where we only have x-number of plays. we have as many plays as we want, as long as we keep converting

I agree. I was thinking more of Air Raid Offenses when I commented (I had the TCU/Texas Tech game in my mind).

nobody (or pretty much nobody) is asking for that offense here

it isn't one extreme (LSU today) or the other (Baylor). i want a midpoint (or slightly off-center one), as do most fans. hell, we pass deep a bunch in our current offense and that puts stress on defenses (by making possessions quicker). i'm asking for shorter routes in the mid-range

we should use this next game as a chance to polish up the pass attack.

Let LF get his 200 yrds rushing then go all pass

Miles runs a lot to rest our defense more. This is smart since we are very talented but not too deep in our Front 7

Why does our defense need such an extraordinary amount of time to rest? Do we not have the conditioning like other schools? If we ran a slightly faster pace offense, would our defense fall to mediocre?

Is our talent nullified because we become a little more aggressive on offense?

Also, why can't the offense win us games? Why is it always the defense?

If we get behind two scores, we're screwed because not only are we not adequately versed in passing efficiently under pressure, but the offense simply exists for the sake of the defense?

Damn. I figured our talent/depth would be huge in a game with lots of plays, and I also thought we had an outstanding strength/conditioning coach. Is that all really a lie?

That's why they keep coming. Sry that hurts your feelings. It's like yall don't want them to come.

We want them to come....we also want them to play/contribute...which they don't on a level commensurate with their hype/rating/talent level.
We are a run-first offense. We've basically had schitty QB play for 9 of the last 10 years.
Why would any 4/5 star recruit receiver want to come here and watch LF run the ball while they block and maybe catch a pass a game?
Go to a school that features the pass/spread O and you can actually get some good numbers.

LSU is ranked 123 in passing yards

Oh okay. So the defense was bad the first 3 games?

The offense carried the defense?

Simple question: does LSU depend on a strong defense?

I am just asking for more passing and play calling to keep them honesty.

Did we pass to the TE this week? That's not creative but at LSU it feels that way.

2 of Harris completions came off bombs... if not for for these 2, he doesn't break 80 yards a 3rd game in a row. But we hit them both so maybe call a couple more?

The first quarter passes to Depree and Quinn were, beautiful! More of this is all I'm saying. ..move the chains make them respect the pass which makes LF unstoppable

Could we pass to the TE? Sure. But when your TEs are manning up against DEs in run blocking and winning those battles, do you need to? ... if your WRs aren't catching balls that hit them in the hands, should you continue to throw their way?

Or do you lean on your one in a generation-type player and the best collection of offensive linemen assembled in the Les Miles era? Harris has done well, but part of that is because the coaches aren't overwhelming him.

We haven't trailed for a single second of any game this season. Bama is clearly not the same Bama team this year, and Ole Miss is vulnerable in the middle of their defense. We really shouldn't need to make anything more than subtle alterations in our gameplan to win these games.

You're right, we should start building our team around winning with a weak defense. What is this staff thinking??

I dont recall saying anything about a weak defense. So I am not really sure why you're attributing that description to me. Seems like a good plan as long as you have good players, and they perform well every game. We still have to score more points than the other team to actually win.

Tell me, is LSU right now at this point in the season capable of passing for 250 yards in a single game if needed right now?
