When I think back, I can recall everyone (coaches, spectators, NOLA and Advocate writers, Scott from DandyDon, and guests) always gushing about how well BH looked during practice. He is an all-world practice QB, and therefore probably the perfect guy to play the role of DT QB on the scout team.

However, we all know exactly what happened when the lights came on. Hopefully BH can overcome his anxiety and have success moving forward.

look, I wish Brandon the best; hopefully, he relaxes this year and let's his talent drive him to new heights.

while no one can predict the future, it is unlikely that he will change much IN THE GAME. the man just couldn't step up and make plays when he needed to.

it's not coaching when the qb can't hit rbs in the flat.

I think Harris will play decent untill a lot is on the line and/or he plays a defense that can get to him

When is the last time you've seen an LSU qb coach or coordinator that was able to actually develope a qb? Rather it was with footwork or whatever the problem was. Jimbo was the last one I can remember.

This little tidbit can't be ignored. Harris can make every throw as long as it's his primary read. If he has to go through progressions he has problems.

I went back and watched some of his games at lsu and he just wasnt a full field progression qb. he could make it to his 2nd read of it was on the same side of the field. he also didmt trust his own eyes. how many times did he take a 3 step drop and fire the ball out as soon as his plant foot hit that last step? rarely.

Replay the pick at the end of the Wisconsin game. That is what his feet looked like often in games. I am 100% certain no coach ever told him to throw the ball with his feet like that.

My experience is that accuracy is something quarterbacks innnately have or do not have, like free throw shooters. You can make some difference with mechanics and practice, but it will not be much. There are some guys in the NBA that shoot a thousand free throws a day in practice, but are still 70% shooters.

Tebow is a good example in football. Nobody worked harder on mechanics and footwork than he did, he is just not an accurate thrower.

yep. there are some things you can do to clean up wasted motion or some footwork and help accuracy a little bit but if you could coach accuracy and practice enough to get accurate, every single nfl qb would be really accurate.

Exactly. This part of the quote is the most telling, and was his biggest issue he's always had. This part is why he struggled in games.

he’s got plenty of arm and he can be plenty accurate when he knows where he is going with the ball,

Seriously footwork was his issue here and its still not fixed. Also the same was said about him during practice then there is the int at Wisconsin.

It's tough for a quarterback to have any real success when you only throw on 3rd down.

Y'all should go back and watch the final 3 games of 2015 and tell me the coaches didn't try everything to get Harris going. LSU went away from what they did well all season and moved to a spread attack throwing often. LSU got it's arse kicked.

For proper context Fedora is referring to having him unlearn the under center footwork and slow Tempo that did not utilize his talents at LSU and led to him taking his first 10 sks vs. ALA and ARK, hurried on over 50% of his dropbacks, and being injured by Cyrus Jones on a 2nd Qtr game-tying 40 yd pass to Dural and being put in 3rd and forever too often.

At LSU he regularly lined up under center and was required to master five- and seven-step drop backs. In UNC’s offense, though, there’s really no such thing as dropping back to pass, as quarterbacks almost exclusively operate out of the shotgun.

“Our footwork that we take here is totally different than what I did at LSU,” Harris said. “Out of the spread and under center is totally different.” This means he will get rid of the ball in 1/3 the time and have far fewer sacks.

Peyton Manning was hardly ever sacked for the same reason. Manning also had this quote: "There’s a saying that goes, treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he could be and he will become what he should be." Add in what Wade Phillips said "I don’t understand the people that say, ‘Hey, this is our scheme and that guy can’t play in it. Well, to me, there’s something wrong with your scheme. You adapt the scheme to what the players can do, not what you can think of.."

It is the same system he ran in High School. He will be the center of the Offense, have control over calls, and has given Fedora and his teammates all have really high hopes.

or the Wisky game of 2016. IMO we lost that game because we tried to get Harris involved early and he went 2 for 8 to start the game. our 1st 3 series were lost because we tried throwing the ball.

I remember the great Papa Johns Golf Cart thread of last year. People were so hopeful that it didn't mean he still wasn't worth a shite throwing the ball accurately. I've learned to always wait to see what they do when the lights are on.

Relive the Magic of a Les Miles offseason where y ou hope a quarterback is getting better, not worse.

I am sure all that will end now that we hired a DL coach.

The media talks offense. The fans talk offense. The AD talks offense. LSU hires a DL coach.
