HT no doubt. It's more like our receivers and backs have less to work with. We will never no how good our backs are cuz nobody respects JJ as a passer.

He had a couple guys talented around him, sure. But the comparison of teams isn't even close. Having a lights out defense does have its perk for offense too...just saying.

but JJ wins more

This is attributed to the defense he has compared to what HT had.

Ok, I expected some debate and most of it is great, but those of you who say thread is laughable etc., you may need to do some research, and as far as a runner, check the stats, it is not even CLOSE, HT may be your choice, but as a runner JJ ran for more in one year than HT did all career, now it is 100% true the current D is better than 95-98, but those defenses were not bad either. As for the UF game in 97, it was defense (interceptions fublaes by UF) and NOT the off that won that game, just saying...so no matter who you chose, there is a debate to be had, IMHO JJ gets way too much hate on this baord and other places, he wins and wins some more, more than any other QB who has started 3 years other than Hodson and if JJ wins this year he may be pass Toomy too. This does NOT Make JJ a better QB than TH ot others, but he is not as terrible as many think.

Check reality and it's not even close that Tyler is a better runner than Jefferson.

He is horrible. One reason the rushing difference is possibly because as an option qb Tyler actually knew how to draw the defense toward him then pitch the ball to the rb. Also Tyler was actually feared as a runner so the defenses did attack him to make him pitch. JJ not so much.

The LSU record the last two seasons is a reflection of the defense and special teams much more than the offense. Again with the talent on both sides of the ball and special teams all LSU needed last year was a competent qb who could hit a pass or two every game downfield when the D was sitting on the run game. JJ did that in 4 games if he would have been able to do it consistently LSU has a 12-0 regular season.

Before JJ's defenders jump in yea the D was run on in the Auburn game but had alot to do in the 2nd half with JJ leading drive after drive of 3 and outs. Same in Arkansas game. Had defensive breakdowns but when you get the ball on the 9 after a blocked punt and get a field goal and dont move the ball in the 2nd half your D is going to wear down.

I believe Herb was the winningest QB in LSU history when he graduated.

But let's also remember Herb had the privilege of working behind #66:

Didn't Herb Tyler have LOTS more success, at the helm, during his career? Than the aforementioned JJ?

same could be said about T-bob Hebert.

anyway

Career Receiving Statistics:

Herb Tyler 1 catch 20 yards
JJ - nothing

Again, I like both, but JJ wins more and maybe has less to work with Larry Foster has much better hands than anyone we had last year and D Lafluer beats anyone since Dickson. Offensive lines are about equal.

you say he wins more, but compare the 2 defenses.

Now compare the offensive production of the 2 players

JJ, up until the Alabama game last year, may have been the worst QB in college football. He was awful

Not that I think Marcus was a great qb but as far as a leader and on the field decisions I dont think it would take long to pick Marcus over JJ either.

I do believe Herb was significantly better than both though.
