Herb Tyler versus JJ, who would you rather have?

I admit up front, I think JJ gets way too much abuse from "most" fans. However, I think there are a lot of simlarities between HT and JJ. Both were drop back passers out of HS, but became dual threat in college, both started as freshmen and both got a ton of abuse...of course both won..a lot. Also, while many view them as runners, neither "looked" to run much. Both had decent arms but not real accurate. Curious what others think, but I think JJ is the better QB and if given a choice for one game or a season I prefer him.
My thoughts:
Passing arm strength JJ
Passing accuracy HT
Leadership HT
Speed JJ
Runner JJ
Winner JJ
Athletic Ability JJ
Quickness JJ
Knowledge of the game tie

Ok I figured HT would get some votes and I REALLY liked him. But, he did get to have K Faulk and as good as our RB's have been the past few years, none of them is anywhere near this, so JJ has less to work with IMHO. Again, I like both, but JJ wins more and maybe has less to work with Larry Foster has much better hands than anyone we had last year and D Lafluer beats anyone since Dickson. Offensive lines are about equal.

Dickson was a totally wasted talent thanks to JJ and Crowton

I think the only two areas JJ is better is Arm strenght and speed and maybe athletic ability.
Tyler has a huge edge in game knowledge and awareness and in running the option he was light years better than JJ.
I for one am certain Tyler would have never sat in the gun and allowed the seconds to tick down against Tenn and I believe LSU could have easily gone 12-0 in the regular season with Tyler. He wasnt a great qb but with the D and PP on special teams 2010 team needed a solid qb and a leader which Herb brought to the table.
Not to mention I never saw Tyler on the sidelines sulking and pouting.

JJ is good but I love me some Herb

The notion that Herb had more talent to work with than JJ is laughable. Absolutely laughable. Herb got the guys he had to play better than they were. JJ retards this offense.
And therein is the answer.

Herb and its not even close in my book...while he had some talent...herb did not have a NC Caliber team like JJ

Especially when you factor in leadership and decision making. One qb was considered a great leader and made excellent decisions the other............. I think JJ's lack of leadership and decision making skills are evident to anyone who has watched the LSU offense the last two years.

I honestly thought this thread was a joke. How can you say JJ over Tyler with a straight face?
Posted on 5/16/11 at 9:58 am to secman12
What? Seriously? Put HT on this team and you'd feel stupid making this thread. HT was a underrated player.

I can make a case for either and I support both. But, to say HT had way less talent is not true, Kevin Faulk, Larry Foster, D Lafluer, Mealey, K Cleveland, in 1996 (10-2) Tyler had 7 tds and 8 ints...4 of the tds were vs nm st and vandy...
