What? He was already the recruiting coordinator and was left with a top 5 class.

Right. Let's just ignore the fact that the face of the LSU program, and most successful coach in LSU history, was fired mid-season; that certainly not anything to overcome.

Canada appears to have been a 3rd or 4th choice, after O, in a HUGE bit of luck missed on his first choice, Kiffen.

Wat? 2nd yes. 3rd or 4th? What?

I don't know. Not having a permanent dline coach or special teams coach doesn't get an A+.

Position coaches come and go. He's got Jenkins for next year, and that's all anyone can count on in a position coach.

He's waiting on hiring a ST coach until the NCAA acts on approving another coach. This isn't a big deal.

I will never understand how you guys can grade the No. 7 class as anything but an A. Especially when the class addresses our biggest needs.

By having a near uncertain future at RB. If we're banking on CEH, then we may be asking too much out of him.

I agre that his performance remains to be seen. However, again, considering the hand he was dealt, he did a remarkable job.

I imagine Texas and Houston are having second thoughts ' bout now.

Always try to be "sunny!"

The only reason the recruiting class was at #5 with Myles is because it was so early and all the big boys were waiting for the other five stars to fall. I think O did well all considered. Would like to have seen another running back and Wilson come on board, but I think what we signed will fill the needs and turn into an excellent class. Having two masterminds at OC/DC makes it feel a lot better about what we signed actually being used properly. To me that's the key.

Well if he adds some quality grad transfers he will get a bump.

in order to "add" any grad transfers, someone else would have transfer out.
we're slightly over limit. it will get settled by the fall.
retaining Arden Key is huge. hopefully, he gets figured out whatever is bothering him

It was # 5 because at the time because we had the 5th best class in cfb. In no way was our class not great when miles aas fired.

"The hand Da Coach O was dealt" was an extraordinarily strong one. He inherited one of the most talented rosters in the country in one of the most respected programs.
He had the no. 5 recruiting class already which he knew like the back of his hand as recruiting coordinator. He was in a talent rich state with no competition except Alabama.
He already had on staff D. Aranda, the best up and coming DC in the business.
He hasn't screwed up but he really hasn't done anything that Les Miles wouldn't have achieved if he stayed, except hire a new OC. And that was a choice given to O.

I would give him a solid A on recruiting the 2017 class.

There were so many things that could have gone wrong with this class and he was able to keep it together. In most cases, when a team fires a coach, the recruiting class is a loss cause. He kept LSU in the top 10 which is great.

His ability to keep Dave Aranda is one reason our recruiting class stayed together.

I think this is more reflective of how Jimbo beat us out for the top 2 players at the top of our board in Marvin Wilson and Cam Akers, and how some people got their feelings hurt for not getting Etienne. People seem to focus more on the big misses in this class then the booms like Jacob Phillips, K'lavon Chaisson and Tyler Taylor. We whiffed on a couple national studs many were expecting to get though.
