how do you get this was not his decision from this statement?

I think Fournette and Orgeron had a conversation about his health and whether it was in his best interest to get healthy or go out and play less than 100% and risk inhibiting his rehab. He wasn't going to play, so who cares if he signed with an agent now? Kind of moot. There is no rule against him still attending the game and supporting his team mates. LSU just can't foot the bill anymore, but I'm sure Fournette will have to problem footing the bill and securing a sideline pass.

And sure, it was ultimately his decision. No one can force him to play. I mean what would Orgeron say, "play or you're off the team?" He's freaking hurt. If that wasn't apparent to you watching him try to play all season, then you're irrational or blind.

Because he could have traveled with and supported the team even if he didn't play.

The school won't just pay for you to travel as a support guy. Why do you think he didn't travel to A&M???

While I 100% support LF7, bowl games aren't the same as conference games. Everyone travels for bowl games including walk-ons; whereas, their are roster restrictions on conference games.

I would find it hard to believe Coach O and any other coach that talked to him wouldn't have advised him jsut to wait 2 weeks

why?

to have LF just hanging around practice seems like a big distraction

so he should sit out practice for 2 weeks and give it a go having not played in a month and a half? Or would it be better to simply prepare for the game as if he would not be available and eliminate potential distractions. If O's job is to think about the team for a game that isn't all that important in the grand scheme, making the decision now is more prudent. Bowl games' such as these #1 importance is the extra practice time and prep you get for next season. Leonard will not be playing for LSU next season, so him playing would be nothing more than a final farewell. I'd rather guys that will be contributing next year to get more carries than having Leonard Fournette in there less than 100% just to appease some of the selfish fans.

...I don't know how removing yourself could possibly be more of a distraction

how is that a distraction for the guys playing more so than having to prepare a gameplan for Leonard playing or not playing not being a certainty?

Don't play just show up to support team. I can't even fathom him not wanting to be there. Assuming he will be there.

Actually, nobody wants him to play, they just want him to be a part of the TEAM and finish with his TEAMmates. This has nothing to do with him playing football. He bailed on his TEAM with weeks left in the season to sign a contract that would have still been there for him after the season
