i agree, which leads us to a recruiting problem. we didn't do a good job identifying talent. shite happens though during recruiting and sometimes shite players play other shitty players and it makes them look good.

absolutely.

I think Cam is a much better evaluator of talent.

I think Harris is more likely to get them the ball. We could still be a power running team that les miles craves out of the shotgun. Auburn does it really well. Im not sure cam could adapt, he would probably need to be on the field for us to try and move to the spread.

I agree i think harris should start next year, and if he isn't ready it is on the coaches.

I think we want to run more out of the shotgun, but after seeing how bad our QBs were we went into an ultraconservative Ball control, Time of posessiton based offense.

I think we want to run more zone read, and that is why we brought in grimes.

if running the ball for 6-8 yards on 1st and 2nd down and 18 of 21 times is out of your comfort zone as a QB than you probably shouldn't be starting.

the thing is we could have done this in the shotgun. We could have ran ball control and wr and hb screens. in shotgun the defense wouldn't be able to stack as many in the box.

Ah the "most people" source.

There is not a shred of evidence to support this theory.

right

we just have to draw conclusions with the information we have, which is very limited as spectators on the outside of the program.

that conclusion makes the most sense to me

others like to conclude that Miles plays favorites or whatever

either way, we are all just speculating

it was literally his first college start ever.
jennings looked bad in every game.

what's his excuse? that he's just a bad QB?

True but once AU made adjustments we had to start throwing...which didn't work out so well. 3rd downs were a bust from the get go.

I wasn't one of them. Besides, starting Harris wasn't the problem.
Starting him on the road at AU was.

2014 redshirt sophomore, but could have just as well been redshirt freshman or senior QB (didn't matter which one played because the team was loaded everywhere)

2013 5 star redshirt freshman (with a team loaded at every position playing a weak schedule)

2011 redshirt sophomore (loaded team and was basically a game manager)

2010 5 star redshirt junior (extremely gifted player)

2009 redshirt sophomore (again extremely loaded team where he was basically a "don't frick it up" QB)

Outside of Cam Newton, the others had extremely loaded teams. They all ran for over 2800 yards and 40 TDs as well.

That's why I think Harris could be our ticket to a national championship.

The defense should get new life breathed into it, with the addition of a new DC and quick pass rushing DEs. With guys like Toliver, Adams, Thomas, White, Mills, etc the secondary will be even better next year. Beckwith in his second year starting should improve greatly the same way Sheppard and Minter did.

The run game will be head by a returning 1000 yard RB in Fournette (first time that has happened at LSU in over 10 years), and his four horseman of the apocalypse. All the WRs will be experienced as well as Desean Smith at TE.

Still basically half a game.

I still maintain that we've seen more flashes of brilliance and talent from Harris in his short time playing than we've seen from Jennings.

Only One Freshman has won one in that time span.

2009 - McElroy = RS Junior (4th year)
2010 - Cam Newton = RS Junior (4th year)
2011 - McCarron = RS Sophomore (3rd year)
2012 - McCarron = RS Junior (4th year)
2013 - Winston = RS Freshman (2nd year)
2014 - Jones = RS Sophomore + Grey shirt (4 years)

I notice a pattern that only one QB with less than 3 years in college has won the NC in the last 6 years.

You're completely missing the point. All these guys were FIRST YEAR STARTERS. True, some had been around awhile but none took any prior meaningful snaps. So please get off the obsession with age and instead focus on actual playing experience.

Are you insinuating that a true freshman quarterback and a redshirt senior who has taken no collegiate snaps are on equal footing?

it wouldn't be an issue had the "opportunity" been treated the same as all of Jennings'.... it wasn't... it was Miles putting a true freshman in a position to fail and acting like he gave a serious, fair shot... it was meant to appease the fan base...

This is retarded. What is more likely is that Miles and Cam gave him a one game chance even though they believed he wasn't ready. They did the same after Lee got hurt in 2008. They finally HAD to let Jefferson play. He performed well and in his first start the next game, he passed for 2 TDs in a 31-30 loss, but more importantly, it was the first time all year that we didn't throw a turnover in a game. I mean seriously what were they supposed to do after Jennings failed miserably against a crap opponent and Harris came in and put on a show? But sure enough, he was scared out of his mind. He looked dreadful. He wasn't ready.

Now after losing bad twice that year, Miles felt the need to play safe. Harris was already scared shitless against Auburn, so how would he handle "The Swamp" at night? He didn't want to break the boy as a true freshman, so Jennings got in and did just enough to win and he didn't turn the ball over once.

After this Miles/Cam felt that with the emergence of Fournette, they could rely on a steady hand in Jennings to complete a few passes and not turn the ball over. Kentucky was next and we pretty much destroyed them. HERE, is when I first don't agree with Miles on this situation, and it lingers til the season's end. We score and go up 34-3 with ten and a half minutes to go in the third, at this point, why in the hell isn't Harris in the game on our next drive? He did the same with Jennings the year before.

Why did Jennings never play earlier in the blowouts of UAB and Kent State? First time he got significant time was when Mett tore his ACL.

I wrote all of that to say, Miles needs to trust his QBs. When Lee was throwing ints willy nilly in 08, he didn't swap JJ (a true freshman) in because one, he didn't trust him, and two, he was young. Same thing in 2011 when JJ struggled. He already though Lee wasn't going to matter and he didn't trust Mett yet (a first year LSU player). Also again in 2012 when Mett was playing bad. He didn't trust a redshirt freshman with no game experience in Rivers, to get any snaps. Again in 2013 with Jennings, and again after half a year in 2014 with Harris.

I'm going to say it like this, if Harris earns Miles/Cam's trust, he'll start until he graduates (because he is that damn talented).

So their time preparing in a college-level or higher offense means nothing, right?

All of those guys had time to learn the ins and outs of their teams offenses or were physical freaks (Newton).

Time in the system matters buddy. Show me where a true freshman QB has lead his team to a NC title? Heck, people forget that Vick was a RS Sophomore when he carried Va Tech to the NC game.
