That's great, and his career was sterling. Simmons' total numbers would surpass Rudy if he had to hang around for 123 career games. Instead, we have to look at his per game totals. Simmons is doing more than even the great Rudy Macklin did. Now he still has to finish the season, so we'll see where his per game numbers finish.

And? That's like saying Michael Vick didn't have great QB skills. He was just really fast. I think Vick was pretty good in college.

And he had VT playing for the national title. They beat a lot of teams because of his ability.

LSU has lost a lot of games already, most to teams you would not think are better than LSU is. Certainly not significantly better. Simmons being as elite as he is, doesn't seem to be creating wins. And in an interesting observation, his dominating stats are not necessarily the reason they have beaten some of the better teams they played. If Quarterman doesn't go off, we likely lose to Kentucky.

I'm not saying Simmons is not a good player, but he isn't what he was built up to be.

Scoob, I've come across some gems on TD, but you're special.

Victor and Hornsby didn't play half the year. Without Simmons this team would be worse...that's his impact.

Simmons scores 20 points per game on 56% shooting and people say he has no offensive game. Forget the fact that he's so good and the dribble drive every opposing team gets at least 2-3 players in foul trouble.

I'm just blown away by some of these people. Kevin Durant shot 19 shots a game in college. If Simmons chose to shoot 19 times, he would also score 25 or above like Durant does.

I truly feel sorry that don't think Simmons is one of the best to ever play at this place.

I don't even know where to start with this. I mean, he is killing himself filling up the stat sheet and people think he's overrated despite what he's doing essentially being without parallel in school history.

And you were hating on me the other day about not knowing what I was talking about. Remember, it can always be worse.

I apologize for any negative comment ever

Some of these people are bred to shite on LSU and players. 20, 13, 5 is NOT good enough. Being the hands down 1st overall pick is NOT good enough.

Malik Newman and Skal Labissere were sure fire top 10 picks for the NBA draft. But they have sucked in college so they have dropped. Simmons is killing it so it proves even more his worth.

Simmons is so talented, you can't front him because he handles alley oops from half court and finishes all of them.

Simmons is so talented that sagging defenders still have to foul him because he can get through stationary defenders and finish without committing offensive fouls.

Simmons is so talented that because his team needed him to rebound, he became the best rebounder in the country as a freshman despite never really having to carry that role on a team.

Simmons is so talented, he fouled out both Kentucky front court starters with 10 minutes to go in the second half.

Simmons is so talented, LSU has been in the double bonus at least twice this year with 14 minutes remaining in the game.

Feel free to add your own.

To be honest, I think he's barely scraping the top 10 so far. I mean there have been a lot of LSU basketball players that have had better seasons.

You guys are all overthinking this. Just think of it like a pickup game at the playground. If everyone lined up and you got to pick the first five, does Simmons name the cut? Of course he does. His talents are obvious.

Simmons would be a captain. He wouldn't be lining up with the Tacks Minor, Charlies Thompson, and the Bens Voogd of the world to get picked.

Why are you making the first name plural rather than the last name? Lol

attorneys general, culs-de-sac, Charlies Thompson, Lemonsade. I thought it was pretty clear.

In case it still isn't clear:

His outside shooting is probably his biggest thing to work on and once he is in the NBA he will fine tune that as well IMO.

So as a non-basketball aficionado, am I to believe that when he gets coaching in the NBA he will suddenly have an outside (or any) jump shot? Is that the way this works...suspect??

Personally don't have much use for college basketball due to the one and doners...

He'll work on it like Bass and Davis did. With repetition he'll get better, just like they did. Will he ever be 38-40% or from 18 feet, probably. Will he become Ray Allen, probably not.
