I agree with you. They all bitched that his defenses lost the games late but never acknowledged that his defenses were the only reason we had a chance to win with our offense.

The same people that wanted Chavis gone want CC to stay...makes no sense

What bothers me the most is the lack of execution, which makes me question how effective our coaches are in practice. We seem to regress as a team as the season goes on, which is directly on coaching.

Ill correct this again. Only 2 out of 5 were within reach. And the 6th game we won because Bama missed 4 field goals, 3 in regulation and one in OT. It was fun yes but pretty rare that any team will give the game by missing 4 field goals. The game before that we won by a field goal but a legit win. One legit win if you will in 7 tries. Sorry I hate it but they dominate us and Les doesn't get that. Now I can see why he wouldn't admit it publicly but to keep running right at Bama's strength is insane.

will Miles be willing to give up LF7's Heisman chances to open up the offense and throw the ball more? Or will he stick with his style and possibly lose another game or two just to try and get Leonard his yards and stay in Heisman race. If he opens up the offense with the pass it will only help the running game.

Miles ain't going to change his offense no matter what happens with the Heisman. His offense is what it is. If LSU ever played against an NFL championship team, it would still be the same hand off or pitch between the tackles scheme. The Alabama game seriously damaged LF's Heisman chances.

It used to bother me. I'm well over it now. What can you do? Nothing.

Its because that scheme, as you refer to it, meets the stated goal for the program set by the AD. A stated goal which, by the way, does not include national championships as its measure

This why Alleva is the worst AD in the history of the school. Joe Dean was certainly no great shakes, but he wanted the best for LSU, he just didn't know how to do it. Alleva really couldn't care less if LSU excels as long as he can keep playing his PC game and keep pulling the wool over most people's eyes.

If Miles calls a few different plays to help his scheme, then he is basically adjusting his scheme based on what his opponent is doing. That is what good game planning coaches do.

hey this is what I see when I'm watching the games ok the passing game we only run about 3 routes which is the fly route with dural the post with dural and the postcorner with dupre ok fullback lead right and left or up the middle power toss the same way people this is not hard to prepare for when playing teams with equal or better talent auburn is having a year like lsu had last year florida gaining ground on the recruiting trail we really need to get more out of this offense to wr screen pass no slants no dig routes no comeback routes no flares no rub routes just nothing for the tightends so if the offense is fine as some people on here are saying time will tell I just hope we don't fall behind against a decent ball team and don't judge Arkansas because of their record they shut us out last year with the same plays we running this year I'm not bashing or staff I'm just calling it the way I see it

If they run the same crap they did this weekend against Ark it will be the same result. They may survive Ole Miss and A&M running this scheme but Ark will expose them to.

He doesn't need to change a scheme. That's a terrible idea and one a young or hotseat coach would do. He just needs to call a few different plays to help his scheme succeed against bama. It's that simple.

I agree with this but where we lost that game was several weeks before when we failed to develop basic pass offense. We have the plays and actually called the plays necessary to win this game but we did not execute them. We needed a successful short passing game to loosen up the run defense and we did not do that. I thought we were on that track when Harris hit Dupre for 15 yds and then ran another play to him that got a PI flag but we fizzled after that. then add the first play after half where BH misses a WFO TE from 5 yds away and throws a pik. Add in the 2-3 times BH missed LF floating out of the backfield...

Scheme was not the problem. Failure to execute simple pass offense was...

Is throwing to the TE 3 times not a few different plays versus yesteryear?

People on this board bitched for years that we never passed to the TE.

Superior coaching starts after signing day. Though a huge part of the gameday coaching acumen, adjustments are only part of what miles needed to win one of these 5 games.

it's not that we can't have some level of success running this offense, obviously we can. It's just frustrating to watch when you know we are capable of so much more.

What I feel the worst about is the injustice it does to the players. They should be given the chance to utilize their skills and play for championships and not have that opportunity taken away by a coaching staff so stuck in the past and holding on dearly to an offense philosophy whose better days are long behind the times.

I wouldn't say a change is philosopy/identity/system is necessary or should be considered. I do have a problem with the schemes within the system though. For example the I formation should only be used in short yardage/goal line situations. We use it as our base formation. I think we could accomplish the same sort of things in the rung game with another tight end or H-Back and it gives you the advantage having another true reciever in the formation.
