Does it trouble you that Miles does not see a need to change scheme?

He says our general scheme worked for 3 of our 5 most recent losses to bama. Moreover, what worries me is that while we are blessed to win plenty of games, we don't lose enough to have a major change in offensive philosophy. Kind of damned if we do and damned if we don't. Thoughts?

Stopping the run should be priority #1

I don't think he looks at opponent's strengths and lesser strengths. "We do what we do and we gonna do it to you too", is his mentality.

It bothers me that he writes the Bama game off as a loss and coaches to try and keep the score somewhat respectable. Why even schedule the bye before Bama if you're not going to try to win the game?

Scheme change isn't a fix. You aren't just gonna scheme around bama.

There are a lot of spread teams that have lost to bama.

the philosophy of running the ball is great but the schematic approach of relegating themselves to the i-form vs eleventy billion man boxes needs a tweak

What is your dream scheme?

The Lane Kiffen Multiple Spread that shite's the bed 3-4 games a year.

The Auburn spread Triple Option that has faield without the athletes.

The Ole Miss Pass happy spread that lost 3 games with two first rounders on offense

The Arkansas pass efficient pro style that lost 5 games.

There is no perfect scheme.

He doesn't need to change a scheme. That's a terrible idea and one a young or hotseat coach would do.

He just needs to call a few different plays to help his scheme succeed against bama. It's that simple.

Unanon. I don't have a dream scheme. How bout this though: when we run lf7, or any back how about putting 3-5 wides on the line? Loosen/ spread em a bit? I'm all for a power run game but give em a fighting chance

6 on 6 in the second half. Stoned. You got enough eligibility left to play guard?

What I understand with what Miles said is that he doesn't mind losing 5 out of loses to Alabama as long as he thinks HIS scheme works 3 out of the 5 loses. I have a want to want what he is smoking.

So your saying we basically win too much to change schemes so you wished we lost more. Brilliant. Thread of the year.

We don't need to make a huge change to our offensive scheme. We're a power running team with a vertical passing attack. And looking at our personnel, I get why that's what we wanna do on offense. We're built for that. QB with a big arm that throws a great ball. Very good OL with a beast RB. And Dural is a speedster that can take the top off the D and Dupre is a tall, long player that can go up over defenders to make plays.

There are very few teams in the country that can stop what we want to do on offense. Almost every team in the country has to stack the box just to attempt to slow down LF, and typically are unsuccessful at that. And that also opens up the vertical passing attack.

However, when you playing against a team that has the personnel, depth, and coaching to successfully stop that(and not just stop but completely shut down), you gotta switch it up a bit and you gotta have that in the playbook already. When you can't stop the other teams pass rush, bring the WRs in tight and start attacking the middle of the field with short, quick passes. That allows the QB to get the ball out quickly and throw high % passes. Get a few first downs, sustain some drives, allow our D to rest, etc. And that will get the other teams D in their heels and could open up some running lanes.

A major change isn't needed. A few simple tweaks could make a huge difference.

You can criticize Miles all you want about the game itself. But I'm pretty sure he was trying to win the game.

its bothered me for years and years. i like his philosophy like 85% of games. but its the lack of adjustments and knowing when to DIVERSIFY the attack that just makes me bonkers.

maybe some of the time it wouldnt make the difference anyway and we'd still lose.

miles established over the course of the season to date an offense that runs over 70% of the time (?) and when facing the best DL around - knowing full well that they know we run 70% of the time - persisted running into brick walls.

what makes it not bother me quite so much this year is that i think bama is just a flat out better team than LSU right now and im not sure a more diverse offensive attack would have made much of a difference in outcome. who knows.

Yes it does-and as someone who is young and now able to buy season tickets for the first time in my life- I won't. I'm not putting in the time to travel and put up money on a product that's stale. We're stale...beat the teams like auburn and Florida when they aren't elite, beat the non-conf games, but we'll lose a couple because we're one dimensional. So now you have a new generation coming through that isn't going to go through that much effort under a coach that is too stubborn to change.

It works 80% of the time!!!1 his record!!1
